getting smoke smell out of seats?

I just got used sunfire seats and installed them in my truck. They must of came from a smokers car and stink like cigs. I tired spraying febreeze and have an air freshner but when i open the door in the morning the smell of smoke hits me in the face .

what can I use to get rid of this stink??

Thanks

Re: getting smoke smell out of seats?

yea febreze works well too. I bought a S-10 someone smoked in and sprayed febrezed on the seats, floor etc. I have extended cab and I wipe the inside of the back glass off with a rag and window cleaner and it was completely black when I was done.

Re: getting smoke smell out of seats?

stick a decaying raccoon underneath the seats, you won't smell it after a few days. You can do the same with a trout.

Re: getting smoke smell out of seats?

I'd take them out and take them to a carwash and shampoo them good. Take them back home and let the sit out in the sun and air out for a couple days, every so often I'd do what the guy suggested above and use renuzit, it's a lot better than Febreeze imo.

Re: getting smoke smell out of seats?

He bought the seats out of a vehicle he suspects was a smoker.

I'd rent a carpet shampooer, or spray them down with soap and water and scrub them clean.

Lol @ the febreze & other odor sprays. I hope that's not how you treat everything that is dirty.

Re: getting smoke smell out of seats?

hey hey hey.......I said shampoo them 1st, let them air out, and while they're doing so then use renuzit... It says right on the bottle "Super(super mind you) Odor Neutralizer" "Eliminates Odors in Fabric"

Nothing like being around 10 degrees out and going somewhere and see someone standing in the cold shaking and trembling and trying to smoke their cig, everytime I see it I just shake my head. But what gets me more is when they think that cracking the window takes all the smoke out which it does some but not all of it, and then they fling the damn things out the window when you are right behind them, Just want to ram them and tell them they dropped something back there.

Re: getting smoke smell out of seats?

Take it to a detailer and have them shampoo the seats, then run an ozone machine in the car.

Re: getting smoke smell out of seats?

My grandfather used to smoke cigars in my truck. I also cleaned the windows to find a black residue on the rag. I rented a carpet steamer/cleaner with an upholstery attachment and it works wonders. It steams/shampoos then sucks it up.

here is an example from youtube.

Re: getting smoke smell out of seats?

Tuff Stuff foaming cleaner , a stiff bristle brush , and a shop vac .....

Spray the seats and carpet with tuff stuff , dip your brush in water and shake off the excess , a little rubbing with the brush , and suck it dry with the shop vac , it will better than brand new .
