First time detailer

Ok I just recently got my truck painted and made a big Meguiars purchase. I used to just use some dish soap and a rag to wash and a regular towel to dry, and some ArmorAll for any shine on plastics/rubber, but I just wanna know what you guys think or reccommend for preserving my new paint. Here is everything I just got:

NXT Generation® Car Wash 64oz
Ultimate Quik Wax
Hot Shine High Gloss Tire Gel
Tire Gel Aplicator Pad
Hot Rims® Chrome Wheel Cleaner
NXT Generation® Glass Cleaner
Super Degreaser 1 gal.
Hyper-Dressing 1 gal.
Water Magnet® Microfiber Drying Towel
Supreme Shine® Microfiber Towel - 3-Pack
Microfiber Wash Mitt
Soft Buff™ Terry Towels

I got the degreaser and hyper dressing for cleaning up the engine bay going by NotaDime's how to. Are there some better products out there? As I said this was my first time purchasing any "real" detailing items!

Re: First time detailer

After a wash and dry I use a Mother's Clay bar kit along with Autoglym Super Resin polish. Then to top it all off I use Collinite 476s.

Re: First time detailer

So do you clay after every wash? I usually wash my truck once to twice a week i think once every 2 or 3 weeks would be good right? Im gonna look into those products you mentioned.

Re: First time detailer

I do clay everytime. I just love that smooth glassy finish! Please do check them out. It's an awesome combination.

Clay bar kits are under rated. They work amazing.

Re: First time detailer

For sure man! I was talking to my dad last night and told him I was going to get a clay bar kit to keep my paint nice and smooth, and he said something like that shits all fake, and its just a scam. Well then i pulled up a video of a guy doing half his hood and showing the results and turned him into a believer!

Re: First time detailer

Depending on the shop and the techniques they used it could take months for the paint to fully cure. Most say to wait 30-90 days before you wax, polishing is okay...

Re: First time detailer

No im not gonna wax it, he told me to wait for about 2 weeks because the truck was painted about 2-3 weeks before I got it back. But he did say the little spray detailers are fine.

Re: First time detailer

i use all car brite products. its the best of the best.

for wax, the brand is clear coat. its some of the best wax on the market. very expensive but well worth it.

wheel polish, i use boss motorsports wheel polish and it does an unbelieveable job.

i do detail cars for people and these products are what i have found to be the best. but if you want a spray wax, use mist'n'shine. it shines and protects like normal wax and lasts just as long, it only takes a 1/3 of the time tho.
