fackin brake dust

ok so i bought this 02 xtreme from a guy who literally babied the interior and destroyed the exterior, so basically i have 6 years of brake dust built up on my rims, i couldnt get it off with a pressure washer and tire cleaner, i barely phased it scrubbing as hard as i could, so what should i do? thanks much

Re: fackin brake dust

try spraying sum simple green and leave it sit for 5-10 mins then hit it with the pressure washer...you may need to scrub it sum with the simple green on it......worked on my buddy's car that wasnt washed in awhile.

Re: fackin brake dust

haha simple green isnt to simple. also maybe some purple power, or in a last ditch effort, go to a detail shop somewhere and get some aluminum wheel cleaner, guarantee it will take it off, BUTTTTTT it MIGHT cloud the clear coat on your wheels. you wont beable to see the cloud until you get right up on them though, i know, i accidentally sprayed some on my old ZQ8's i used to have. i let it sit for about 5 minutes before i realized what it was and quickly hosed it off but it was too late, they still looked good until u got about 2 feet away, just slightly cloudy

Re: fackin brake dust

Have you tried a powerball with polish? May work. Speed of the drill helps out in the scrubbing process.

Re: fackin brake dust

Not sure how it will work on 6 years worth of dust, but I know it's alot easier than scrubbin by hand. Good luck.

Re: fackin brake dust

I just spent 2 hours on one wheel dealing w/ the same problem. I got a flat on this wheel, so since I was temporarily running the spare, I figured it was a good time to clean this up. I really should've taken some befores b/c it was BAD. Needless to say, now the remaining 3 wheels look terrible w/ the one clean one, lol. I need to get the others done asap.

I worked the inside of the rim first. What I did was first sprayed w/ poorboys APC and scrubbed w/ an extreme duty stiff bristled brush. Had to repeat this 3x. Hosed it off then took a medium grade clay bar and went around the rim a couple times. Took some ssr3 on a microfiber applicator pad which really removed a lot. Did a little more w/ the clay bar, washed it all off one last time and sealed w/ poorboys wheel sealant. Lemme know if you need more info on anything
Heres what I ended up w/
