Re: exterior detail
well i would use the compound, then the cleaner wax then the swirl remover but you are missing a "topper"
compound, polish then glaze (swirl remover) and just so you know the swirl remover is only a "filler" it doesnt "remove" swirls......... you dont want that "cleaner wax" as a topper. i would recommend................. Last edited by NotaDime : 04-11-2009 at 10:08 PM. |

Re: exterior detail
I'm pretty good at detailing, but I'd never use a buffer on anything cept orange peal, I'm scared I'd get swirls or burn throughs

Re: exterior detail
Then what did I use after I color sanded a new paintjob? I guess I meant polish the paint, I'm just scared to use it on a stock or older paint job.

Re: exterior detail
as for being scared, i have a place under my door handle where the clear has peeled abit, and i am a lil scared a buffer may make that worse but have also been told polishing will help followed by a shot of clear

That's neat, I used to drink it all the time. I've got a brand new 1.75l bottle of it, I've been meaning to make some more TGI Fridays Jack Daniels sauce w/ some of it. I got all kinds of Jack clothes.

Re: exterior detail
LMAO spare change for goo gone ha ha. Oh I was wondering because the stock white ones are hard as hell to find, it took me 1 yr to find mine and it has a crack in the side.
Nope it's a 2wd. When I bought it the guy had cut the grilles out and did a very shitty job. I cut them right and then got them near perfect by sanding the backsides with a DA w/ 80 grit on it. Oh BTW 1 week before I got a deal on my chrome bumper a guy had a white one in perfect condition on ebay for like $25, I'll never forget that ![]() |

Re: exterior detail
just get a regular one, lay some primer...then get some krylon bright white(i shit you not it works awesome, but make sure its warm where your painting) then some dupont clear coat and bam, 15 dollor white airdam and you can sell your old one off as a 4wd one and make ya change back....
say, you know the dealership sticker they put on em? mine has one that is like, just black lettering thats stuck on there and i have no freakin idea how to get it off |

Re: exterior detail
I've done some research into it with using professional stuff and w/ mine being a daily driver the paint won't stay on long. I've got a 2week old gray airdam right now, just sitting in the back room.
If it's just a sticker then take your fingernails or get some plastic razors. I know you said your truck was painted, was it painted in that area? |

Re: exterior detail
lay down enough primer and clear and it sticks pretty dang good man...i redid this one two weeks agon and not even a little chip so far...i even wax the damn thing...
and yeah, i'm just scared of scraching the paint there, and when it was professionally painted it was just a door, cuz of a fender bender...you can see the sticker in my sig above the s10 badge on the tailgate, but it ain't no regular sticker...its on there, i mean really on there |
