Engine Detailing for the first time
I have a 99 s-10 Blazer and it's got 136000 on the motor...everything is running perfect, now i want to clean up engine...
I heard it mentioned that Green Stuff degreaser will work...is that strong enough or do I need Gunk engine cleaner......it has some grease/oil on valve covers... Also do I cover the distributor, ECM, and alternator with plastic grocery bags ? Anything else to cover ? Finally, will water hurt any the of the wiring, sensors etc...and I suspect I'd start the motor immeadiately after completion right ? Just don't want to mess with what's working good..you understand.. Thanks for your help..... |

Re: Engine Detailing for the first time
I use Simple Green. Works good. Make sure your engine is cold, spray it on, then rinse it off. that simple.

Re: Engine Detailing for the first time
i've heard good stuff about simple green....i use greased lightning before myself...i'm gonna be showing at a car show in a week and a half and i think i'm gonna go to the car wash and try their engine degreaser, one of my friends used it before a car show and the engine compartment looked like it rolled off the assembly line...so i'm hopin it'll get my 2.2 lookin that good

Re: Engine Detailing for the first time
turn the car on when you do it.....
make sure the engine is cold... then crank it and clean it spray it down with degreaser of choice (dont get it on your outside paint) rinse off (with a pressure washer of you can) you dont need bags over anything...just keep the alt. and such as dry as possible get everything black all greased up with tire shine ![]() or at least thats how do it when i detail |
