do you all clean the door jams often. what is the best way to clean them up and make them look new again. also how to prevent the rust on the inside lower rear corners of the doors, you know where all chevys start rusting out.

Re: door jams and stuff

clean with a degreaser WHEN THERE REALLY DIRTY then wax them, after they have been detailed like this, just use a chamois or towel to wipe them clean next time.

Re: door jams and stuff

You may have to remove the rubber to clean real good,,

use Spray nine, Mean grean or simple green,, and soak it well,,

use a paint brush with short bristles, or cut it short.

rinse real well.

Once you get your jams and everything clean, use a precision oiler when oiling hinges, door latches and locks so it doesn't get all over the place in the future.

Re: door jams and stuff

If you dry them with a chamois everythime you clean your car you would'nt have to worry about all that stuff...

Re: door jams and stuff

Use a non acid wheel cleaner in the hinge area of the jamb, and then use soap and water on the rest. When you rinse the car post wash, it will all come out then its just up to you to dry them off. Id use a microfiber and a air hose to get all the water out of the jamb. This will help clean off and residual dirt and grim and leave a nice clean door jamb. Then, if you would like, wax and or polish the jamb.

Re: door jams and stuff

i use a spray detailer(ICE, or meqguiars(sp?)) with a towel and it works well. just my 2 cents tho.
