Detailing a NEW hood
I just bought a new Goodmark Ram Air Hood. My truck is black and the hood came with a nice smooth black primered surface. Since I will be painting my whole truck within the next year, i don't want to have to pay to get my hood painted twice. (and i don't know which color i will be painting it anyway)
My question is: Is there any way to give my primered hood a nice shine so that it will match the rest of the truck better? Is just waxing it alot the best? P.S. i know that any products i apply will have to be sanded and completely removed before the hood gets painted. |

Re: Detailing a NEW hood
you could rattle can it. but when it comes time to paint it correctly you may have to have it stripped off. if wax shines it up enough for you that may be the way to go.

Re: Detailing a NEW hood
DO NOT put any compunds, sprays, waxes, polishes, or anything on an unpainted hood. You're obviously not going to keep it that way right? Don't put any contaminants that the painter will have to detox off. You're just making more work for him, and increasing the likelyhood of contaminants under your basecoat. Honestly just wash it like the rest of your car, and save up to paint the hood.
