Decal & crap removal
How do I remove the decal on the side of my bed without hurting the paint / clearcoat?
I also have tar and crap on the rockers that I need to get off, what is the best way to do this? Bedside decal |

Re: Decal & crap removal
they make an eraser wheel you put on a drill, but they kinda make me nervous. I tried using a heat gun, but all that did was heat up the vinyl and make it stretch... i just peeled em off, then used laquer thinner to get the glue off, but lighter fluid works, wd-40 works, but not as well, goo gone dident really touch it on my truck, so i dunno.

Re: Decal & crap removal
I used a plastic decal squege(sp) and a can of either(starting fluid). Once you get the dacal off, spray the sticky stuff with the either and wip off before the either evaporates. Repeat till all sticky stuff is gone. Does not hurt the paint. I have taken all the warning stickers of my motorcyle using this method.

Re: Decal & crap removal
Get the bottle called "Goo Gone" Make sure you get the heavy duty stuff. It's like syrup, you let it sit on the glue for about 2-3 mins and wipe the glue away. Works awesome.

Re: Decal & crap removal
the eracer wheel can burn your paint if you don't keep it moving enough

Re: Decal & crap removal
We do this at work all the time, I'm a detailer . Anyways, yes like stated above, the eraser wheel IS the best way. You can burn the paint if you hold it in place too long on one spot but keep the wheel moving and the chance of burning is slim. Second of all this is on an air drill which is what we use. If you use an electric drill it will spin much slower and while not work as well will be even less of a chance of burning. But do remember under the decal/emblem the paint will be darker as the paint was "protected" by the decal so it will need to be buffed and polish to blend in.
