Try WD-40 or some brake fluid.

Brake fluid?!? I do hope you are kidding! NEVER EVER use brake fluid to clean ANYTHING. Brake fluids loooooooves to eat paint, plastics, etc. No matter how careful you are, if the littlest bit of DOT brake fluids touches paint, and isn't noticed, you can say "bye-bye" to whatever it touched. It will also continue to eat the paint until it dries out or is washed off. You can also bet the farm that the paint will come off as well when the area is washed. Check out the warning label on the back of a bottle of brake fluid.

Also WD-40 may be a great adhesive remover, but it likes eating rubber too. It contains petroleum distillates. So does Vaseline, and other kinds of chemical cleaners. You ever hear them say never use vaseline as a lubricant with latex condoms? You guessed it, goes the same for rubber too. Terrible analogy, but hey, if the shoe fits.

I'm not coming down on you, don't worry, just trying to save you or anyone else from an expensive mistake.

One of the safest and most reliable chemicals I have used to remove adhesives from certain areas is Mould Prep. It's the "sh*t". Last but not forgotten, acetone. If you use it, and it spatters on the finish or anyplace else, don't have a stroke, just wipe it off. It's a "high flash point" solvent, which means it evaporates quicker than gasoline, WD-40, and similar chemicals.

Good luck!!

-MIKE

Of course I was kidding.

I had heard the same things about brake fluid's paint removing tendencies so I decided to try it on my RX-7(needs a paintjob anyways ). All it did was clean the 9 layers of sh!t off my roof and made it quite shiny. Oh well, maybe that's just some good ol' rotary resistance.

I know you said that you have already used 3M Adhesive Remover but it does work, I used it on mine. You just have to rub kind of hard and roll it up with your fingers into (like somebody else said) a snot ball.

I have the same problem. I tried the razor blade idea and messed mine up bad. I decided to just buy new pieces from the chevy dealer. They were like $45 a piece, but they gave me the wrong thing so i took them back and haven't had a chance to go back and get the right thing. I really don't want to put ventvisors back on.

let the adhesive remover sit on the residue, it works beter than just wiping. if you cant get it to stay, put some ona rag and hold it over a section, if its still tough try a plastic card i.e. lisence, ID, credt card ..whatever, just no blade. Also 3M makes a "citrus cleaner" that works well on adhesive, but im not sure how it will affect your rubber.
