Cleaning Windshield adhessive...
I was wondering if anyone knows how to clean windshield adhessive off of paint without hurting the clear coat? I was wondering because when I was removing my emblems, the emblem on my drivers side was stuck on with windshield adhessive instead of double sided tape. I have the emblem off, but most of the adhessive is still there. I have tried Goo Gone, Oops adhessive remover, WD-40, and bug and tar remover but none of them seems to work. If anyone has any suggestions, please post them.
Thanks. Last edited by jspears12 : 06-04-2005 at 03:19 AM. |

Some people have told me that using a hairdryer and heating up the emblem before you remove it works really good and you can scrape the adhesive right off... never tried it though.

A lolt of times if your freeze it, you came remove it. Look at a janitorial supply store and see if they have the stuff to freeze gum, so you can remove it. If you know any of the custodual staff where you went to school, they might give you some. Otherwise, on a cool morning, try freezing it with an ice pack

Re: Cleaning Windshield adhessive...
I might try freezing it, b/c heating it didn't work. But I did the heating the emblem before I pulled it, but since the door is not the original door that came on the truck and when they painted the door and put it on the truck they just stuck the emblem on with windsheild adhessive. If anyone else has any ideas please post.

Re: Cleaning Windshield adhessive...
my neighbor used mineral spirits to remove tar on his brand new sierra quad cab, and his paint seemed ok, id have to say that acetone would be safer than that.... i still wanna slap him for using paint thinner on brand new white paint but o well....

Re: Cleaning Windshield adhessive...
You should get a rubber sticker remover, you can get them at a bodyshop. You stick it on the end of a drill and it removes the stickers and glue and what ever else is there without hurting anything
