Cleaning wheels.. what do you use?
I usually only use soap and water.
I'm looking for some product that I can use when washing my car that I can use on my wheels. I'm not sure exactly what my wheels are made out of. But I'm looking for something that would be probably safe on any type of wheels. That will degrease well and makes them shine. these are the wheels I have on my car tho: http://www.maxspeedperformance.com/x...me.php?cat=174 |

Re: Cleaning wheels.. what do you use?
Wheel Caring It is important to keep your wheels clean at all times. Your brakes will cause the wheels to heat up, and this heat in turn can cause any dirt or brake dust to cook in to the clear coat. If this happens, there's not a lot you can do besides having the wheels refinished. Protect your investment and keep your wheels clean! Below are some simple instructions on how take care of your wheels: * Do not use household cleaners or other detergents to clean your wheels. The best wheel cleaning solution is a mild soap and water solution (what ever you would trust on the paint of your car). * Clean with a soft, un-abrasive cloth. Only on polished wheels can you use aluminum wheel polish. If you use this polish on chrome, painted, or clear coated wheels, you will only scratch or dull the finish. * Do not use steam cleaners in automatic car washes. * Do not use any tire cleaners on your wheels. * Clean wheels when they are cool. Heat can cause the soap to dry on the wheel and become difficult to rinse off. * Clean one wheel at a time. This also prevents the soap from drying on to the wheel. * After the wheels are clean and dry, apply a coat of soft paste style wax to them. This will create a moisture barrier and help ensure the finish lasts as long as possible. http://www.maxspeedperformance.com/x...s.php?pageid=2 |

Re: Cleaning wheels.. what do you use?
Well I do high end cars I use ps21 gel. But a lot of times soap and water work wonders...I wouldn't spray your rims with cleaner every time you wash your car. Put a nice LSP on it the brake dust should easily wash off.

Re: Cleaning wheels.. what do you use?
I use foaming glass cleaner on the chrome wheels, and for alumnium wheels I just use a rag and water and just get as much as I can off.

Re: Cleaning wheels.. what do you use?
Yeah just like they said, the armor all and the meguires all wheel cleaner works great for spraying on the wheel and tire just before pressure washing... but for billet rims DON'T USE all wheel cleaner, use something like eagle one billet wheel cleaner. Basically don't use anything too corrosive
I find only the commercial grade spray foaming glass cleaner gets all the crap off on the billets, but with clear coated aluminum anything works... |

Re: Cleaning wheels.. what do you use?
i have stock swirlies so i just use water and a rag, to clean them up between car washes in winter, i use car wash soap and clean them when im washing the truck, or use the tire and rim cleaner at the car wash, works good enough as i dont have chrome or polished rims yet
