What do you recomend for dressing up the hoses? I have some Turtle Wax wet n'black that i use on my tires...would this be ok on heater hoses and rad hoses?
I always keep my engine clean, but my hoses have been neglected Thanks guys ![]() |

Re: Cleaning under the hood
Best bet for detailing the engine compartment is CD2 Engine Detailing Kit . It will take your piece of poo and make it look shiny and new. It maybe hard to find, check Walmart or Pep Boys. Meguiars makes a great engine compartment detailer called HyperDressing. You control the amount of shine by how much water you mix with it. It's not sold in stores, check out this place for it, they pour into smaller bottles for us non-pros http://www.autodetailingsolutions.com/Meguiar's%20Detailer%20Line%20Prices.htm

Re: Cleaning under the hood
Some of these tire shines could cause the hoses to dry-rot prematurly by extracting oils and moisture from the rubber compounds found in your hoses. I'd get a rag and spray silicone spray lubricant on it and wipe them down, if I were you.

Re: Cleaning under the hood
oil will definately kill any hoses that you have, will make them spongy and swollen. ixnay on the brake fluid.

Re: Cleaning under the hood
At any rate, something I found is that you can get large bottles of heavily concentrated silicone lubricant that works *wonders* on tires and other plastic and rubber trim pieces at.... sex stores. A big bottle of silicone sex lube is dirt cheap compared to similar "high end ultra performance" tire shines sold at autozone and such, and works just as well. I just get a thin piece of foam sponge, load it up with the lube and go to town. A few drops is all it takes to do your entire truck. |

Re: Cleaning under the hood
![]() If you're straight, I find it helps to have your girlfriend or at least a bikini calendar on the wall when you're lubing and stroking the hoses so you don't feel too gay. |
