Cleaning spray paint off chrome...

To make a long story short, about half a can of black spray paint was accidentely sprayed on the right quater panel of my truck, covering my chrome wheel in a nice, black overspray.

Will laquer thinner take it off without ruining or dulling the chrome?

if its just a light overspray the paint shouldnt be hard to get offf... id try washing them with regular wheel cleaner and some elbow grease......

but im not sure bout the laquer thinner....

It's kind of a heavy overspray... Enough to make the chrome feel rough.

I know laquer will eat away spray paint, I just really don't want to hurt my wheels.

I used brake cleaner on my Boyds one time when paint got on them and it did fine and the paint came off. Also you could use Prep all paint cleaner it also would not hurt the wheels.

ive used wd40 on my bumpers to get overspray off.. kinda gotta work at it with a paper towel or whatever you use but it came off..

I got some overspray on my wheels once and used laquer thinner on them. Worked fine and didnt hurt them at all. Cleaned them really well actually. I just washed them off afterwards. It also worked well on my windsheild.

Cool, I was hoping laquer would work. I really didn't want to go buy something to clean them off with when I have a 5 gallon bucket of laquer in the shop.
