???Cleaning Borla (Chrome Tip)???
Hi,
I want to clean up the chrome on my Borla exhaust tip. (The side cap has melted onto it). Is there a way to clean this up? It actually looks worse in the pic than is. I attached two pics. |

Re: ???Cleaning Borla (Chrome Tip)???
Two more pics.....
I removed everything so that along with the side-cap I can fix my rear-bumper (slight warp from parking against curb) and I want to do the tailgate after shaving. Anyone got an idea what the 3 will cost to fix/paint? -tailgate (weld filler plate) -side-cap -rear bumper (slight warp on plate wall) And buffing the tip if it can be done. Thanks 4 any help! I will be storing this thing in A1 condition before winter comes. (No flaws) :-) Last edited by Sleeper S10 : 09-28-2004 at 03:26 PM. |

Re: ???Cleaning Borla (Chrome Tip)???
pick most of the plastic off with whatever you can. then take a very fine (at least #00) steel wool and rub it on there with some chrome polish. it probably will leave swirls, but on an exhaust tip, it shouldn't matter that much. another idea, not sure how good of one it is though, get a torch or other source of fire, and maybe melt it and scrape it off that way.

Re: ???Cleaning Borla (Chrome Tip)???
Thanks.
I tried the chrome polish thing and nothing. I'll drop by a shop one time to ask and see if they can do something. :-) |
