Bringing back old rubber
The rubber on my bedcover has faded and turned grey so I called the company to get a new one and it 75 bucks so any ideas on how to bring it back to life. I can drag my fingernail across it and it seems as if there is a light film on there. Anything to take the film off.

Re: Bringing back old rubber
I would use a good cleaner such as 303 cleaner.
Then go back over with the 303 protectant. There are a lot of products on the market, however, 303 is a trusted and known long term care product with a quality track record. Hope this helps... |

Re: Bringing back old rubber
Where can I get it at? I don't think I have seen it at the local autozone.

Re: Bringing back old rubber
is it like a soft bedcover, like the snap down kind? my dad has one of those and puts a floor wax on it, it really shines it up.

Re: Bringing back old rubber
Or if you want to try to pick it up locally, try a pool or spa shop/store, truck accessory store, car specialty store. If that is all you are ordering, it would save you a bit to pick it up. You can also go to the 303 web site and they will send you a free sample ![]() |

Re: Bringing back old rubber
Ehh I just used a propane tourch on it. Worked good and got the nasty old rubber film off of it. Works for me.

Re: Bringing back old rubber
Most dressings like that will come off after a week or two. The one I found to work the best and last months is Meguiars #38. You can get it direct from Meguiars or from an Auto Paint supply store. It's a proffesional product so it's not likely going to be at Pep Boys/Kragen/Autozone. Apply it on with a foam pad applicator, rub it in good and then wait a few minutes for it soak in and then wipe off the excess with a terry or mf towel.

Re: Bringing back old rubber
As already mentioned 303 is good along with Poorboy's Trim Restorer. Adam's VRT is all I use though.
