bottles

ok ive seen a million differeny bottles. i went to summit and like all car stores they got a lot of stuff. my questions is about the swirl removers and such. i saw that (i think meguires) makes about 9 different steps like DEEP SWIRL REMOVER and SWIRL REMOVER and all that kinda stuff. it comes in a beige colored bottle. my quetsions is this. how much do i really need this stuff. if it honestly extends the life of my paint or makes it look better id probably buy it a little bit at a time. i noticed there was different ratings of harshness or something like that on them. anyone know anything about this stuff?

The ratings basically tell you how abarasive the product is. Using a more abarasive compound will take out deeper scratches and harsher swirl and spider-web marks, but also leave a bit of hazing, but that can easily be fixed by using a less abrasive product. You don't need to use a LOT of product when you're polishing, but use enough so you can see results. A bottle should last you quite a while, providing you're conservative with the product and don't end up detailing a lot of cars.
Which product you use depends on how bad your trucks paint is. I'd reccomend these following steps though, providing you stick with the Meguiars Professional line-up

Wash
Clay
Wash
Paint Cleanser (Any paint cleanser will work)
Megs # 9 (You don't need to use this if swirls aren't bad you can skip to the next step)
Megs # 82
Megs # 26 (Hi-Tech yellow carnauba wax)
Megs NXT Paste or Liquid as a topper.

If you follow all these steps, you can make your truck look better than it did off the showroom floor. It might take a while if you plan to do it by hand, but the results will be well worth it
