Black Trim Around rear windows on 2K Blazer

My trim (I think its plastic) around my rear side windows looks like crap... Its kinda faded kinda pitted and just looks like crap in my opinion...

Anyone else have this on 2nd gen Blazers...

I wnder how much they cost and what all is involved in replacing them? I don't wanna take out the windows... If I do, I wanna just shave them..

I spent a lot of time trying every cleaning/polishing product in the house and found that Meguires Gold Class liquid worked the best. You'll need to polish it several times to get it cleaned up but it's worth the effort.

You could try Novus 1, 2, and 3 on it ans see what happens. I used it on the black plastic mirrors of my (don't laugh) 95 Escort and it really helped clean them up. I noticed some discoloration/fading on my Jimmy too. I have some Novus, I'll try it this weekend and give a before and after presentation.

Turtle Wax Black Wax works good or Mequires Gold Class Wax.

OK I tried the Novus steps 2 and 3. I tried to use step one which is the last step but it seemed to cloud up. Step 2 was used after 3 being that 3 is the deep scratch remover.

I apologize in advance for the blurry pics. It was hard to read the lcd while at the car wash.

The first pic is of the product used. I also used yellow flannel polishing cloths that can be found at any automotice center.

This oic shows what step one (the swirl on top) and step 2 (the swirl on the bottom) look like when used alone. I guess I forgot to take a pic of step 3 while in the process. As you can see it is still reflective in the dull parts but the reflection becomes more clear as you look at each step. BTW, I just barely buffed those 2 areas for the example.

This is the final product. It is clearer and brighter. The haze has diminished alot. Yu can see a glimpse of the camera man in this photo. I also did my mirrors. I only have "after" pictures because it was a last minute thought.

Look how much clearer the reflection is in the pic above. Here's the mirrors. They don't look grey anymore.

Lastly, your mileage may vary. I will wait until we either have precipitation or after the next car wash and see if it reverts back to the hazy look. Waxing after polishing may help seal the polishing. I have yet to try it though.

Well, after this week's rain showers, I discovered that the polished areas oxidized after the polishing. So It looks like it needs to be sealed with a wax coat afterwards. I'm sure that is no surprise, but it is what I observed.
