Meguiar's has a plastic and trim polish. I've used it on my interior, and all my exterior black plastic, engine plastics too. The stuff comes off when it rains. I've tried this... I read in a magazine that rain-x is great for plastic trim.

Meguiar's=just enough---nice sheen/ new plastic look
too much--- looks like you used armorall

Rain-x= looks like new plastic/ last longer than meguiar's

test on the bottom of your mirrors where you can't really see.

The parts with wax you can clean with a stiff toothbrush soap and water.

Re: black plastic

You can use wax blaster for removing wax from textured black plastic pieces. I'd then suggest trying trim restorer on them. IF they've been badly effected by the suns uv, they may not be returnable to oem look. I think i posted a link to trim restorer in the other interior panel discussion a couple threads away from this one.
