Re: Billet Rims
just wash them when you wash your truck, and some windex will get all the spots off. if you are wanting to polish them, i would use mothers polish. i've had my wheels for a couple months now, and i haven't even polished them yet.....just wash and windex. they still look as shiny as they did when i first got them

Re: Billet Rims
yeah J, i like the mothers the best. Derek uses the blue magic but i think it leaves a slight yellow haze to the wheels. i did one of mine with blue and one with mothers and the mothers looks brighter even though it requires a little more work. i wouldnt even bother with wax

Re: Billet Rims
i use it on mine, and they're polished...not chrome. it works good for me, and i haven't seen any problems from it. im assuming you got centerline smoothies? i have archers, so they're pretty much the same thing

Re: Billet Rims
you shouldnt even have to use windex, just wet a cloth, wipe and dry off, as long as they havea good coat of polish youll be fine ,oh and use the mothers in the white can with the red label, i think they make stuff especially for billet but i think it sucks.

Re: Billet Rims
Fock no, mothers incredible billet is great. I know this from experience. I only use non ammonia foaming glass cleaner like Invisible glass. That and terry or microfiber towels will leave your wheels looking as good as new. The regular mothers polish works too but obviously the billet polish is going to work better, seeing as it was designed for that...

Re: Billet Rims
i never used glass cleaner, maybe ill give it a try, but i didnt like the billet stuff when i used it. oh well, ill leave it on the shelf for you, as long as you leave the plain stuff for me. deal? lol

Re: Billet Rims
just this morning i went at my billet rims with the mothers billet polish in that little can and it worked great.
i barely drive my truck and still find I have to do this every three wks or so. it's a lot of work to keep them up. Last edited by Sleeper S10 : 07-06-2008 at 11:44 PM. |

Re: Billet Rims
remember polish smoothies in a circular motion only, you can put tiny little streaks in there that make it look like you jsut ran a brillo pad over them if youre not careful. i use mothers aluminum/mag wheel polish on my smoothies and it takes a little work but damn those things shine after a good cleanup, totally worth it. never tried that zoop seal stuff but i rember how much the commercial talked it up, like it was aluminums best freind. maybe ill try that stuff soon.

Paper towels and dishwash soap? Did you run out of newspaper or did eagle one stop making newspaper too? You sound like a amateur buddy...

Re: Billet Rims
yeah seriously, a paper towel will never go near my billet, chamois, microfibre or cloth diapers only. everything else will leave fine scratches.

Re: Billet Rims
And it takes him 8 hours to polish them.
If you were restoring the finish to a set that you found in a junktard that was sitting for over a year, the yeah, a GOOD 8 HOURS TO BRING THM BACK. But if you really know what you're doing, first, you'd never let your rims get that bad, second, it should take a few hours max. |

im almost afraid to polish mine, because i've never done it before. they dont need it right now, but i'd still like to go ahead and do it, because they shouldn't be to bad to do right now, and i'd like to know what im doing next time

Re: Billet Rims
mothers "billet" polish is great. takes me maybe an hour and a half to do the for rims by hand and looks pretty decent.
nothing else takes the dam cat pee stains away and small scratches that come about. |
