Re: best way to clean chrome wheels

Windex / glass cleaner.
Mothers powerball is for polishing billet wheels, and so is billet cleaner. You arent trying to polish them, just make them shiny. so i just clean mine with car soap, water, and a sponge - then use windex on them to make them shine.

Never Dull is harsh, so you gotta be careful with it.

I use that or Mothers Chrome Polish, depending on how dirty the wheel is.

AND, yeah the powerball is useless for chrome.

Re: best way to clean chrome wheels

why would you use acid on chrome wheels? only thing acid is good for is if brake dust is stuck on the wheel and no other cleaner will get it off.

Re: best way to clean chrome wheels

i dont have chrome rims yet, but i usually get a 2nd bucket and fill it with soap and water and a diffrent rim only washing sponge, clean the rims and tires up nice and good, wash and dry them, and come back and use a nice soft rim rag and windex and it works great, i also use windex on my tires to clean and shine them, works just as good as foaming tire cleaner, one less thing to buy

Re: best way to clean chrome wheels

i heard that windex is bad for your crome that some chemicals in it will have a negative affect over time. not sure if i believe the guy tho sence you all say you use it. no one has had any dullness from the windex?

Re: best way to clean chrome wheels

I use armor-all wheel cleaner and black magic TI-wheel cleaner, spray on wheels, let set. Then rinse with a hose, and immediately dry with micro fiber cloth.

Re: best way to clean chrome wheels

i tried that polish posted above by turtle wax and it left like a "overspray" look on my rims, its not very noticable, it took off all the crap tho.... is this normal or was i too abrasive?

Re: best way to clean chrome wheels

if you have overspray you can use 0000 steel wool. push hard but not super hard or you will scratch them. i used that or ill use the treatment pre wax. Best stuff ever. easy to apply and super super easy to come off. best stuff ive ever used. turtle wax and others i dont like. along with windex dont like. id rather use the foaming window spray from dollar store. The dealerships i know hate windex but love foaming spray. just my 2 cents
