Question Best Wax to protect paint

I have been reading alot about the different types of wax's and whats on the market and frankly i am very impress in what Zaino has to offer what i am really looking for is a heavy wax to protect the paint something that will hold up to small pebbles rain and everything eles that is getting throw at our trucks. I have not seen anyone taking about one so anyone who has any ideas about a good wax that provides look lasting protection be great thanx.

Re: Best Wax to protect paint

not to be rude and crush ur idea but a heavy tough wax is not a good solution because it does not allow the paint to breathe for example it is worse to have a car parked in a garage all the time (ex. put away for periods of time) than it is to be outside. Basically it screws up the chemical bonding in paint that alows the clear coat to do its job the clear coat should be allowed to do its job so the paint should never have more than 2-3 coats of wax any more only harms does not help. If there is more coats than that it should be removed with grease and wax remover or be clay barred off. Hope I helped a little. Oh a excellent polish like zymol is great for polish and meguires or rain-x wax is awsome just dont over do it uv rays is what helps the chemical process. I once was a great believer in big waxing until I pursued a career in body work and talked to ppg and sherman williams corprate reps along with head honchos in the company and they all say the same thing.

Am I missing something here??? Are you saying that it's better to subject your vehicle to the elements, bird crap, acid rain and any number or airborne contaminates than park it in the garage?? My truck is always in the garage unless it's in use and it looks pretty damn nice..even if I do say so myself...

Re: Best Wax to protect paint

You misread I talk to those who leave there vehicles in the garage for long periods of time then take it back to that because it does not allow for it to get the uv it needs to cure correctly same as wax which is the reason for easy chipping etc... you also misread the part i did not say that wax is bad too much of it is bad do not think adding 3-5 coats is helping it is hurting it only slows the curing process which leavs it succeptible.

Re: Best Wax to protect paint

So how long does it take the paint to cure? Once it has cured then can you leave it in the garage?

This is what I used on my truck, http://www.5starshine.com/ I think it looks better than when I picked it up from the dealer.

Nanowax is pretty good but it definitely dosen't last long. I used it and about 3-4 weeks later it dosen't even feel like I ever waxed at all. Granted that we got some rain during those weeks but rain shouldn't be able to take off the wax this bad!

Anyone used the NXT generation wax yet? 15 bucks!

That has got to be the dumbest thing I have heard. Waxes do not keep it from breathing, but they do protect it from oxidation. Lets see, my brother restores cars, paints them himself, etc. His 72 Buick has been painted around 14 years now & sits in the garage. HMMMM, still looks brand new. That is what my buddy thought about waxing on his mint 86 vette pace car convertible. He had it since new. Funny, but the clearcoat started peeling off. Needless to say he listened to me now with his new vette convertible.

Anyway for theguy looking for good protection, try the new Turtle wax Ultra Gloss. It has a nice thick layer of protection.

I used the nxt. it worked pretty good, but i still think meguiar's high tech yellow wax #26 is the best i have used. I just bought some of Meguiar's #16 paste wax. it is specifically designed for dark vehicles. i will let you know how it lasts when i get the chance to use it. i just tore a bunch of ligaments in my ankle so it will be a while. Has anyone tried the Pinnacle Souveran Pate wax? It is like $60 for an 8 oz. can? Here is the web site where you can find it.

Re: Best Wax to protect paint

I just waxed both my Sonoma and my S10 with the NXT. Goes on easy and comes off Very easy. Quite user friendly. Gives a nice deep shine. I'm waiting to see if it outlasts the Gold Class though (as the bottle states).

Re: Best Wax to protect paint

I have the gold class and I must say it is quite nice... It rained the day after I waxed it and the rain just beeded off.... It was really nice..

Check out this Windshield Wax. I got it from wal Mart. The stuff is great, does the same thing the Gold Class Wax does, but on your windshield and mirrors and windows.. Its nice!

Well that happens with pretty much every way. Rain will bead off of it after you wax it. The key is a wax that will last and be effective for a long period of time. When I used nanowax within weeks it dosen't even feel like I have wax on my truck at all. Poor lasting in my opinion.

Re: Best Wax to protect paint

I'm kind of in the middle between Meguiars Gold Class and Nanowax...I used Nano for the first time this weekend and it worked really well. Considering they're the same price, I'd say go with Nano because you get a free microfiber with it.

Re: Best Wax to protect paint

Try Zymol Wax...It comes in a clear plastic bottle and the wax is blue. It's a little costly but It is one of the best I have used so far.
