Best wax/polish for a white truck?

Everyone is talking about their polish on black paint, will it work the same on white?

I've got a '99 X, painted 3 coats of Linnen White about 2yrs ago, and wet sanded before 3 coats of clear!! . Its an absolute awsome paint job after the emblems were shaved, ect...

I'll be entering the truck in a show on the 12th under a Mini Truck, slightly modded class. I need some wax/polish that will shine it up like glass and still protect.

Also, what can i use on the xtreme rims? They have lost thier shine. Is thier a aluminum polish that wont harm the rims clear coat?

Everyone that helps should feel all warm, and tingley inside cause of my future 1st place trophy!
Thanks for the help guys.
Gerald.

Re: Best wax/polish for a white truck?

I use Turtle wax ultra shine stuff on both the red and white on my truck and both with beautiful results. But if it is your first app of it, then put on 2 coats.

speaking of wheels, now I have a question too. what is the best way to shine up uncoated aluminum alloy's?

I used the Meguiar's High Tech Yellow wax number 26 on my wife's white dakota after some dual action cleaner polish and it looked real good.

As for the rims, try some mag and aluminum polish with a dremel rotary tool and a polishing attachment after you wash them. this seemed to work pretty good.

Re: Best wax/polish for a white truck?

Mothers Billet Polish isnt just for billet. It will work on any wheels. It made my 03 ZQ8's super shine. It must soak through the clear or something because I did them the day before with flitz. I then used the Mothers Billet & it pulled black out, just like when I used to clean unprotected polished rims. I have to go with the Turtle Wax Ultra Gloss also. Very nice results for an over the counter product.

Another Black paint junkie here, yet if I was going to put wax on anything it would be Zaino Bros wax. The price is steep and you have to wait about a week for delievery, but you get ten times more applications out of it than normal wax. I use the accelerator with one coat of Z-5 and then 2-3 coats of Z-2. Only use the clay bar if the need is there. Also order the spray wax to use in between each coat of wax and between washes. The tire stuff that Zaino sells is also top of the line. I put 2-3 coats on everytime I clean and it does not spin off of the tires like those greay tire wets at the parts store.

Sounds easier to just hit one coat of Ultra Gloss. Use a good polish first, & I bet I can get the same results without the high price or wait on product.

I've always used a brillo pad before waxing....

Best way IMHO is Meguiars Gold Class. As far as wheel polish, Boyd Coddington Metal Polish. Those are my 2 favorites.

Dayum. My poor baby hasn't seen any wax at all since the paint job. Maybe I should do that

What exactly is claybar, if I don't sound too retarded for asking.

Re: Best wax/polish for a white truck?

Sorry for not getting back in a while. I used the Turtle wax ultra gloss. Man, that stuff is awsome! The quick detailer they make is the best thing I've ever used! People were walking around stering up dust and stuff, before each judge, I'd spray it down with the detailer and just wipe it off! Amazing. 1st place!! That was my first show to be in too. I think there was maybe 25-30 s-10s out there also. Thanks for all the advice. I'm looking forward to more shows now

Try Zymol wax. Thats the best stuff there is, makes my red s-10 xtreme's paint look wet and like glass.

I didn't have my digital camera out there, so I have to wait and take up the rest of the film and get them developed. I'll post some pics as soon as i can.

Re: Best wax/polish for a white truck?

The only zaino wax i have seen is the liquid one, is there a paste? I waxed my truck for the first time in about a year from owning it, i used mequires gold class, it came out great. I waxed part of my brothers truck after not ever being waxed in like 2 years i think, wow, what a difference, it looked like it brought deep black color back from his paint! Waxing does take awhile though and kills my arm when the job is done, i should look into getting a rotary tool for waxing?

Re: Best wax/polish for a white truck?

waxing shouldn't hurt your arms. Ease up on the pressure you apply. You want a thin coat applied evenly over the entire truck. Make sure you overlap your strokes to get adequate coverage. I wax 2-3 vehicles a week and my arm never hurts. Rmember, light pressure, thin even coats, that's all you need. if truck still looks dirty, you need to rewash, claybar, paint cleaner, polish, and then wax. Might take all day, but well worth it.
