AWESOME STUFF !!!!!for quick detailing of polished alum. wheels
I was shopping at the Walmart tonight with the wife, and found this stuff in the kitchen & bath cleaners section. I was a little skeptical, but figured what the hell, I am attaching the web site about the stuff, and I know it doesn't say its for polished alum., BUT on the container it says Alumium & Chrome. I had not cleaned or wiped my wheels off for over a week, and they had water spots and road grime all over them. These wipes are soooo easy to use and brought the shine right back, as if I spent the day polishing them with Mothers. I did all four wheels in less then 5 Min.
sorry this got so long......gezz !!!!. http://www.magicamerican.com/products_a.shtml |

Re: AWESOME STUFF !!!!!for quick detailing of polished alum. wheels
You use wipes, and they work like magic you say or close to it. Hell, maybe I'll give it a whirl myself. I don't know when or how I did it, but I ran into or over something sticky icky. It looks like tar, although im not sure. Let's just say I've put loads of elbow grease, wheel cleaners like mothers, a variety of cleaners, everything I've came across so far except goo gone. Which I plan to try tomarrow, because whatever it is, doesn't want to come off for nothing. It's on my front two wheels. On the same note, I hate the brake dust left behind from disc brakes on my two front wheels. I can spend hours cleaning em, and the next day they're covered in brake dust. Makes me sick to my stomach, so to speak. I still have my stockers on thank god. If they were boyds or something, I'd be hella mad. Im right before changing brake systems, to get rid of the brake dust hassle. Any suggestions?

Re: AWESOME STUFF !!!!!for quick detailing of polished alum. wheels
ceramic pads are supposed to be good for reducing excessive brake dust.
and as for the wipes, i'd be careful with that, with dirty wheels, you're going to wipe the dirt into the finish. then you have a shitload of hairline scratches in the wheel. you can polish these out, but its not fun. my suggestion, get spray on wheel cleaner, and an old carwash mit, spray the stuff on your wheels, splash on some water(or have the mit soaked), rub down the rims, rinse with plenty of water and dry. after that, your wheels should be as close to as shinny as the last time you polished them. also, consider getting an electric drill and some buffing pads/wheels, just apply the polish (onto a clean wheel, polishing dirt in is no different than wiping it in) all over the rim, just dont bother rubbing it in till the black residue appears, thats what the drill is for. this will make your rims shine like crazy. more caution though, be careful with the buffing discs/wheels with the exposed nut and bolt tip at the end. engineer some way to cover that up with a non abrasive material(such as spinning the nut down with a small peice of cloth or towel covering the nut and bolt, but still in between the nut and the pad), that way you don't scratch the shit out of your wheel. i could be wrong with these wipes, but i'm a skeptic when it comes to stuff like this. |

But when I polish mine, I've never used Mother's or any other polishing stuff. Ever. People have asked me if I did. But, I have to kinda chuckle and say, "Nope. Just washed em and then dried em. Kinda buffed em with the drying towel but that was about it." |

If anybody is interested Flitz makes a buffing ball to go with their polish..They have a TV Special for 19.95.
I've seen the ball work and it works good. Just attach it to a drill and go to work.. www.flitz.com/tv.html Last edited by bg's : 07-08-2004 at 03:49 AM. |
