Anyone here use sandpaper on the clear for defects?
My Dad mentioned this to me the other day. Said his buddy who does automotive painting uses 3000 grit wetsand to remove small scratches and defects from the clear. I tried it on mine the other day and it worked wonderfully. Finished up with 3M 9 cut polish then swirl remover.
Anyone else ever use wetsand for those hard to remove scratches? |

I wasn't that brave to go under 2500! I was just waiting to go through the clear and base coat on one of the scratches I was working on.
Glad to hear others also use this method! |

Well, thats to be expected if you are painting it. I was talking about now that the clear and everything is on there and dry. Couldn't imagine using 1500 dry on top of the clear just to remove a scratch. May do more damage then with what you started with!

i haven't done anything exterior before but when I painted my door cups, I finished the clear off with 1500, then 2000, then scratch remover, then cleaner wax,... they look like a pair of mirrors now
