Re: "Whistler Mod" on headlights

I dont see the differeence. You took the rubber trim piece off or you painted the inside of the housing black which by the way will decrease your light output/performance...

Re: "Whistler Mod" on headlights

Unless he's put (or going to put) different lights in the housing which don't use the reflector part of the housing.

BTW, if the hazy part you are talking about is the clear lense... it can be polished back to clear

Incorrect....the point of the "whistler mod" isnt to black out the entire light housing.......you tape off the headlight portion of it and then sand and paint everything else.....see....

what? I'm just stating that I don't like the way it looks, sure it's different but in my opinion it looks cheap.

BTW, "whistler" is the user ID of the guy on the Camaro forums who came up with this mod.

I'm with jake, I don't like them either, but it's your truck, glad you like them.

After he mentioned camaro.. I was wondering if it was related to him.
Silver/gray camaro with vette tails molded in... clean car.

This mod works on the camaro... not so clean looking on the truck. But yeah, crystal clear lenses might make that difference.

Re: "Whistler Mod" on headlights

Yeah, like i said, it was just a experiment. It sucks that there really isnt a good after market sonoma headlight so now im just searching for a set of envoy ones and ill decide if i want to paint them then.

Re: "Whistler Mod" on headlights

I like it a lot actually. This is also called the joey mod on V-Dubs. EIther way looks great but certainly not for all trucks has to have a certain amount of black or it will look out of place. Good alternative to tinting headlights, plus I think it looks 1000 times better.

Re: "Whistler Mod" on headlights

yea, if i could get my hands on a spare set of headlights, and clear corners, i would seriously consider trying this, i think it would look good with a black truck.

Honda guys have been doing that for more than 10 years. I like it on some and not on others. To me it depends on the color of the vehicle.

Re: "Whistler Mod" on headlights

Well, the paint scheme on the truck is still up in the air and im tryin to decide which is why its still primed and waiting. The rims are black so im either goin with a pearl white or a graphite gray......and then doing some other two tone or something with a metallic black.........cant decide. grrrrr. Either way the theme on both my car and truck seems to be white and black so thats y i thought it went well together but ill keep posted when i find a set of voy lights.....damn things are a hard to find
