Re: Tinted tails legality?

It is illegal. Will you get hasseled for it, who knows.

If you don't want to risk it, don't do it.

Re: Tinted tails legality?

Yup, it's illegal.

You're going to have some knuckleheads tell you that it's not because they had tinted tails for years with no problems, but that doesn't change the fact that they are illegal. It just means they never got ticketed for it.

Re: Tinted tails legality?

Yeah id like a roll pan too, haha. A few of the taylor cops are dicks, like my english teachers husband, someone was riding an atv in the woods and he flew through the woods and pulled a gun on them..

Re: Tinted tails legality?

Tint those tails, don't be a pussy...

A friend of mine does them professionally, you can get from very light to pitch black...

****************

Personally, I always suggest using an extra light ne way, such as a LED strip that goes right under the tailgate above the roll pan...They can help you NOT get rear-ended sometimes.

Re: Tinted tails legality?

Haha thanks steve, the problem is me and my dad share the truck for now, once we get ac in the beater, hes gonna take that and give me the truck, good deal! He does "illegal things" in the truck and DOES NOT want to talk to any cops... So it should get done next year. *and im 16 if youre confused by this*
And how do i change my age on here? Im looking everywhere and no luck.

Re: Tinted tails legality?

its illegal. iv had mine tinted for a good 8 months and there black n havent been pulled over for um. iv been pulled over a few times and the cops havent said anything about my tint eyebrow or tinted tail lights.

Even the cop that was screaming at me when i got my exibition ticket doing a huge brakestand in a target parking didnt say anything about them he was more considered on who bought the tires WTF?

But yea off topic

why tape off your back up lights tho. i think itd look realy funny and i used the VHT nightshade works nice just make sure you dont put the can to close to the lights ull get a bunch of streaks in it.

Also what i did with mine so they didnt look so dull i wet sanded um with 3000 grit just enough to make um smooth and buffed um and they look niice n shinny now but still tinted.

also the shit fades i had to do mine twice

Re: Tinted tails legality?

yea, like i said, not my taste, i did them to the color the owner wanted them.

i personally like candied factory tails, they add a darkness enough to where you can tell it isn't stock, but it doesn't affect the clearness of the lens. i've whored these pics out for so long on here, but here goes the set on my truck. shitty pic, truck was dirty, but thats the only pic i've taken of them, since installing them.

Re: Tinted tails legality?

i niteshaded my tail lights to pitch black on my s10, and my camaro. i have had the tails on the camaro done for over 2 years, and the truck for about a year. i have gottne pulled over many many times, but never has the cop even metnioned my lights. niteshades let a decent amount of light through, so they dont hassle me. but i know some one who used black paint like a tard, and he got yanked daily.

I know in Texas you can have tinted tails as long as they are visible from 200 feet and the side/rear reflector are still visible.

That is incorrect. Look up Sec. 547. of the Texas law. And it also states that vehicles must meet FEDERAL STANDARD laws.

Just going by the info I received from the DPS State Troopers at Precinct 4 Justice of the Peace, Parker County.

Then the trooper misinformed you, because for starters, those numbers are wrong.

Ever seen a set of all clear til lights, they have a DOT approved number on them too.
