Stupid Shop

I just got my bedliner done and it had bubbles in it (thanks AWESOME). Since it was under full warranty I took it back for them to redo it. Just got it back yesterday and they replaced all the smoothed out seam sealer with a caulking gun, so now I have really thick inconsistent beads of seam sealer everywhere. It looks nothing like what it did when I brought it to them, and I am very dissapointed. Then when I was washing it, I felt something on the pillar between the back window and the door. Upon further inspection I find overspray of the bedliner all over the pillar and underneath my side window almost all the way to the side mirror. Luckily I have been documenting everything with pictures so I have proof of what they did, and I know I am in the right here. I guess I am just wondering what steps need to be taken to get this right. I don't really want the place that did it to try again after seeing what they did to try to "fix" their mistake. And I need to get the paint fixed and they are definitly not touching that. Anyone have any input? Perhaps people who've worked in shops before and seen something like this? Or maybe you've had a shop screw up your vehicle too? I just want to handle this in the best way possible, and make sure my truck gets taken care of.

Thanks
Eric

Cliff Notes: Bedliner and paint got f'd up on my truck, the shop who did it needs to fix it, but I don't want them to do the work.

Re: Stupid Shop

im thinking the seam sealer might have to harder before they can apply the bedliner, the bedliner materials might lift the sealer.

Re: Stupid Shop

thats does look like crap, you could spread the seam sealer then let it dry then shoot if you had to there is no difference. Hell it should dry faster spread then if it was all bulgy like that. Take it back to them, don't be a raving asshole yet, be calm and see what they will do to make it right. If you do not get your bed fixed to how it should be then start getting nasty about things.

Re: Stupid Shop

yes you should let it dry/harden before appliing the bedliner..... but that wasnt the issue here, the lifting didnt happen around the seam sealer, and when you apply a coating over wet seam sealer, it has a tendency to pull the paint away from itself as its curing because it shrinks quite a bit, this did not happen so im sure it was already mostly cured

Re: Stupid Shop

Next time you go in there I would tell them to completely remove that bedliner and give you a refund. I wouldn't want a bedliner from them after seeing those bubbles, thats unacceptable. Spraying a bedliner isn't a complicated job, that should never happen.
