starting the S-Tang
well after 2 years of talking about it we have finally started to work on the mustang front end convertion on our s-10.
here is a photoshop of how it will hopefully end up looking as. we are still unsure if the grill will be billet or not and the position of the fogs. ![]() |

Re: starting the S-Tang
it doesnt look like much now, but after 2 weekends we have the headlights in and we raised the stock s-10 bumper.
its amazing how close the contour of the mustand headlights is compared to the s-10. we wont need to add much to the fenders to make them work. but the hood will need quite an extention. next up is getting ourselves a noma hood, i bet the lines in it will line right up with the mustang headlights. and also getting a new s-10 bumper since ours has a big dent in it. once we get our noma hood we can modify it a bit and we will be able to close the hood. its hard to get good pictures of the front since we are so close to the wall. ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Re: starting the S-Tang
What would be interesting, dare I say it, if you swapped in a Ford 302 into once it's done to back up it's Mustang looks.
Interesting project, good luck! |

That actually looks kinda good.
But it would take a while to get over the fact that the front of my chevy truck is parts of a mustang on it. |

Re: starting the S-Tang
i wonder when that brown truck was made. someone stole my idea!!! im pissed lol
honestly i dont like that brown truck, mine will look much better. the bumper sticks out too much on that one. the bumper and facia will be all custom built on our truck, it wont just be a transplant like that one. man im so pissed this was done before. |

Re: starting the S-Tang
depends paint toad....he may be making a clone engine....just takea 283 and bore it out...use a 327 crank or something along those lines and youve got a 302 engine....numbers wont say that but it will have that many cubic inches. i heard this on the camaro forums.
but yea the real 302 sbc are worth a bloody penny. last one i saw went for 15grand! so yea. i buddy of mine in radcliff hasa 427 all aluminum original camaro engine. already been offered 45grand for it....turned it down! crazy ![]() |

Re: starting the S-Tang
worked on the s-tang today, here are some progress pics.
we got our noma hood, that made a huge difference, no s-tang should go without a noma hood. after notching the hood, it finally closes! ![]() this shows how much we will have to extend the hood ![]() building the lip that goes around the headlight ![]() lip partially welded in. i have the cardboard hood extention taped in place to give a better idea. ![]() once we put the headlight back in we noticed the gap is not even at the top compared to the bottom. its odd because we followed the lip on the headlight. we will have to go check out a real mustang and see how they are made, but from all the pictures i see, the gap is even. ![]() front shot ![]() its starting to look like an s-tang! ![]() Last edited by TinaBanana : 02-16-2008 at 08:59 PM. |

Re: starting the S-Tang
well we spent a good part of sunday redoing the right side to correct the spacing. the front lip should be following the front contour or the lens and not the lip on the back (which does make sense when i think back on it, we just starting to work without having all the info we needed)
it was a pain in the butt to redo the lip but in the end im glad we redid it so now it looks right. next weekend we will start working on the hood extention and maybe start adding onto the bumper to raise it so it covers the lower lip on the headlights. right side redone to follow the front contour of the lens left side (the second side always goes so much smoother!) there is a gap on the bottom because the fender is loose, once the fender is secured, the gap will be eliminated front and side shot with the ghetto cardboard hood mockup |
