sonoma conversion help

ok so i wrecked my whole front end and ive always wanted to throw a sonoma front end and now is my perfect chance. ive searched but couldnt find much

so can you guys give me a list of the stuff i need to get to do this conversion and give me any pictures and/or advice you have with the conversion

so far ive been told that the only real mod i need to do is get the rigger bars from the 94-97 sonoma to attach the bumpers

thanks a lot

Re: sonoma conversion help

i assume, since your sig says, you have a 2000 s10. All that is required for the sonoma swap is the grille, headlights, bumper, valance or bumper cover.

if you have a 98+, you dont need the older bumper brackets unless you are converting to an older stlye front end. If your truck is a 2000 and you are converting to a 2000 sonoma, you dont need the 94-97 brackets.

Re: sonoma conversion help

wait he said he was going from a 2000 s10 to a 97 sonoma thats the older style core support. I believe he will need a new core support too. if he sticks with 98 up he wont. So make it clear what year sonoma front you want. And i have never heard anything about brackets being different. Do some searching dude theres been tons of ppl going from s10 to noma. and vice versa.

i read and didnt see where he said he was going to the older front end. 94-97 bumper brackets are long bars with a slot at each end for the bolts. 98+ uses a much shorter bracket because there is a partial bracket welded to the frame. 98+ is more like an L shaped piece of metal with 2 bolts holes in one end and 1 in the other.

Re: sonoma conversion help

there wasnt another bracket on the old s10 bumper? I have nerver heard that you need an older style bracket to mount a new stlye bumper on a 98+ truck.

Re: sonoma conversion help

its not an older style bracket. its the bumper mounting bracket for the 2000 sonoma

so whats up with the sonoma lights? isnt there an extra light bulb in the sonoma lights? or do all the original harnesses/bulbs fit in the sonoma lights?

oh i gotcha. You had me confused. All the lights are the same. The only difference is if the sonoma lights are equipped with fog lights and your s10 isn't.
s-10 has 9005, 9006, 3157, and 194 bulbs in each headlight/parking light. The sonoma should have the same thing.
