Snapped bolt to remove cab mounts
The other day I decided to go ahead and replace the cab bushings on my 1st gen, with a new set that I bought from Energy Suspension. So I began by removing all the bushings first and everything was going well until I got to the last and final bushing (as always). I was having a hard time getting it to come loose, so I decided to hit the head of the bolt with the hammer to try to loosen it up. Tried again and as luck would have the head of the bolt snapped, which pissed me right off. Now I was wondering if anybody could give me any pointers on how to go about removing the stud. Now before anyone says anything, I just want to mention that the fenders and hood are still mounted to the truck, so the idea of removing the cab off the frame is not really an option for me. Thanks in advance

If you cant get any vice grip on whats left of the bolt your going to have to drill the bolt and retap the threads.

Re: Snapped bolt to remove cab mounts
Never had this problem but another option might be to weld a bolt head onto the stud and try again. That way you can keep your stock bolt holes without having to tap it larger.

Re: Snapped bolt to remove cab mounts
weld a nut on it, most the time the heat will help. If you can't do that just try to heat the bolt a lil and use vise grips.

Re: Snapped bolt to remove cab mounts
Welding the head back on won't be an option because the stud is inside the bushing so you can't get to it. I guess my only option is to drill it out. It just sucks because all other ones came off without any problems, and now I got to deal with this drawback. Anyways, thanks for the help guys.

Re: Snapped bolt to remove cab mounts
Take the bolts out of one side, loosen the ones on the other side, and jack the one side up until you can remove the bushing. Its just like we do on body lifts. Just make sure while your jacking it up your not pulling any wires or anything.
