sick paint job idea

i came up w/ almost the perfect paint scheme for sonoma but i'd like to have some outside input, i wanna paint it snow white w/ silver and black flakes, w/ the jet black ss stripe down the sides w/ silver and white flakes. the wheels are also gonna be black. what ya'll think

btw does anyone have any pics of cars that're white w/ black flakes

Re: sick paint job idea

sounds decent in my opinion, but might look a little crowded if you throw in an ss stripe. i think you should pick just the flames or just an ss stripe

i'm doing the ss stripe that goes down the side of the body, i said i was gonna do black flakes in the white paint and white flakes in the black paint. my mistake if i put flames i meant to put flakes

i plan on putting black stripe like the white one in the pic down the side of my truck only it'll be jet black w/ white and silver flakes in the paint

Re: sick paint job idea

o ok i gotcha. when i read it again i dont think you actually said flames, i probably just skimmed over it and assumed thats what it said. my bad. that should look pretty sick then, im not sure about the black flake in the white paint, ive never seen what that looks like. but the silver in the white should look good with the black stripes and there flakes

Re: sick paint job idea

u wont want the white flake on black. u will want a white ice pearl on the black though. other then that, everything could flow if layed out right.

hes saying you want pearl instead of flake, flake looks bad when sprayed over something (well, flake looks bad no matter what you do with it, but thats just my opinion), it muddies up whats under it... not to mention it makes a friggin mess in your booth... pearl will make it look more dynamic, it will sheen rather than sparkle

go with a white pearl, youll be way happier with the finished result

doesnt matter how shitty the paint job turns out if its getting cut&buffed also... (not considering good prep tho)

Re: sick paint job idea

lol 450, not even worth the time to pull my gun out of the cabinet... and your prepping it? another reason i wouldnt touch it... bodywork and prep have to be my own before i lay paint down, or i wont do it

even if its a friend... dont expect much for 450, because that doesnt even cover the cost of quality materials

i think he said 450+materials still cheap

some guys i know said they saw some guy paint a 2008 mustang candy red jams, bay, everthing for 2k i said your full of shit they said no we saw the invoice i said yea it probaly said 2k for materails

ill paint a whole car for 400 all u get is a macco specail sand everthing w/ 320 tape everthing off, and spray it, no body work no cut or buff and dirty nibs are free , i only do that for the cheap dealers, for someones personal car 2k minimal for complete with little body work

ten bucks says u dont make 450 in a day. if u can do it in a day, then its cool, no warranty no thing.

i know what youre saying... but it highly depends on the vehicle, it bothers me to no end when im asked to halfass something, the only time i would do a 1 day "el cheapo" job for someone is if its a trashy car and its heading to the junk yard in a year anyways... but if it something that they plan to keep then im gonna charge them to do it my way

im not going to trash a good vehicle just because they want to be a cheap ass.. nor do i want it to come back onto me because something that they prepped failed and they think its something i did... i do all prep myself to cover my ass...

ya, its hard to trust people to do prep, they always miss something!

sometimes u need the cash, and have the skills, but u do what the budget calls for.
