Please do not ruin your eclipse.

I've wanted one of those cars since I was 13.

Re: primerin car

how is primerin it, ruining it? its a fact o bake paint job. im gonna repaint it later, well a friend of mine is. im gonna go ahead and mask it off and get it primed. i was jus askin what grit to use to get the best results. it needs some work. i can do body work but ive never primed over paint and was jus askin before i made a mistake.

Re: primerin car

then fix and prime the bumpers until you can have the car painted...dont go primin the whole car lookin ghetto...just prime as you go

but if you insist,180 grit is fine as long as you are using real primer....but for some reason,i doubt that,so im not gonna be much help.

Anything this man says, take it as gold lol.

But yea, are you using real primer, or... rattle primer? And by the way...

"how is primerin it, ruining it?"

The way/method you go about prepping and priming a car, defines the ENTIRE outcome of the final paint job. That is how you can ruin it.

Haha, not exactly. My dream eclipse is the car I rode in when I was 13. It was my friends, and he had put around $40,000 into it. So the car that I'm attached to... is NOT the eclipse that you would drive off a lot.

40k in to a 2k car?!

I always see blonde hair 18 year old girls drive them. Or if it's the newer ones then it's their grandma driving them.

Re: primerin car

Putting the whole car in primer is going to make painting it a whole lot harder

Re: primerin car

You know, I come from a long line of poor people, so I've heard this line a LOT. How do you get a certain dollar amount out of your vehicle, exactly? If the car only cost you $1, but it makes you look like an idiot when you drive it... you will never get your money's worth from it.

That doesn't make any sense at all. Just saying, not flaming, it just annoys me.

Re: primerin car

no you are screwing it up by doing it the cheap way

if you are really planning on painting it one day just deal with the off color bumpers

Re: primerin car

Honestly, I bought my truck at a good price... the previous owner had rattlecanned it, what appears to be 8 different colors- NEVER rattlecan your vehicle, even if it is just a temporary fix.

It will come back and haunt you. And everyone else that has that car.

Ha, screw that. 180 DA, filler and epoxy primer. I'm not wasting my time doing that by hand. The only thing I'm worried about, is if I want to do a bc/cc, or just a ss. I'm thinking ss HRF.

Re: primerin car

Yea, if you're just rattling, screw it. Scuff it up with a Brillopad/Scotcbrite and have at it.

Re: primerin car

No. Don't spray-bomb. No matter what color < gray, black > you will a car which looks like it has zebra stripes. Don't take the wrong way but some people can rattle can good. But you Sir sound like you know nothing about painting, don't choose the easier, shitter way out.
