I don't know, but damn that's a good deal! All of the junk years around here want between $150 and $250 for a tailgate. With one exception, but they never have any.

Re: Ebay tailgates, are these legit?

It's an aftermarket tailgate, that's about what they cost. It's not a great deal, it's what they usually cost.

I can use the hardware from my original gate, but thanks for the heads up Jason. My buddy was over my shoulder saying the same thing

Re: Ebay tailgates, are these legit?

they are decent, but not a great fit. You probably will also have to modify it a bit to attach all the mounting hardware.

Re: Ebay tailgates, are these legit?

i would be iffy on it, just because the seller has one rating... you never know..

i know, when i had a little fenderbender several years back, i bought a core supoort off ebay, and it was junk... they used like 22gauge or less sheet metal for it, and i could bend it by hand.. he complied and sent me my money back minus shipping, and i fixed the stock one....

Re: Ebay tailgates, are these legit?

ive put a few aftermarket gates on various truck, none of them are really that "great" the metal is kinda on the thin side and theres usually some really bad waves right around the handle hole from where it was punched out

there was one that i put on a full size chevy that was so wavy from the handle hole, that it was almost the entire width of the gate

theyre cheap for a reason, if you want it to like nice, personally i would go with an OEM one or one from a junkyard

Yeah i saw his feedback, but i was just posting the link for reference. I know Pershing is a good place to deal with. I was just wondering why there were so cheap, because my neighbor said he could get me one for $400

Thanks for your help guys!

dont buy a core support from pershing or whatever... thats the seller i bought the core support from... cheaply made, and i doubt it would stand up to a front end collision if you put one in lol

The after market parts as stated above are thinner/cheaper steel.

Some of us started buying them to save weight.

Re: Ebay tailgates, are these legit?

For $500 I can get a complete bed - and I can probably get it with a gate attached... so $400 doesn't seem like much of a deal for a tailgate.

not around here you cant... a few years ago i priced a bed... the cheapest i found for a BARE rust free bed was 900, and most of them had some minor body damage... up here where jim and i are, you just can find a good bed for cheap

i eventually found a solid bed for 250 (was involved in a roll over), but i had to drive south to get it

I bought my bed, bumper, and tailgate for $250. It even matched my truck

Allright... you win.
haha.

And I have to be honest... It's from a cousin that hauls piles to the recycler.
But in any event, at $500 I thought he was ripping me off and passed.
I'm going to be installing new bed rails instead.
