Since my a/c is removed and all I ever use the heater for is the defrost/floor combo I want to do away with that panel . My question is what kinda switch couls I use to wire the heater to , just need one cause when I take the panel out it will stay on defrost/floor . And how would I wire it ??

Year/model?

You'll need to do a vacuum jumper as well to handle the damper doors.

Re: Wiring a Switch

I don't have a specific drawing for that year, but...

Look on the heater box, you'll find a plug, with several wires on it. That's the blower resistor. If you want it on high all the time, you can bypass all those, and wire directly to the motor. If you want it on medium, just apply power midway down the pack. Low, apply power to the end one.

Wire colors are easy - just look on the resistor pack, and pick the matching color back inside.

Make sure to plug the incoming vacuum signal on the rotary switch, or you'll have a hiss under your dash, and a small vac leak.

Re: Wiring a Switch

Heh - no worries...

Look for the #1 position on the selector switch. Should be black/grey, or plain grey. That's the vac source. Plug that.

As for the switch....
Purple is the power - that goes to one side of the switch.
Then, it's up to you what goes next to it:
Yellow for low speed
Tan for medium
Light blue for medium/high
Orange for high

You might not have all 4 options - it seems to vary.
