i do not believe s10 have that harness pre-wired. It is not hard to make one yourself and install it.

There are two optional trailer wiring harnesses one has an aux power wire the other does not.

it shouldn't have one from the factory, to run the brake controler, you need to tie into the third brake light, otherwise if you tie into a tail light it will run the brakes when the blinker is on

as for the brakes on the trailer im not sure what pins they are

Re: Where is the wire harness for electric trailer breaks??

I have a '96 2wd pickup with the 4.3 and a 5-speed. Mine has a couple of feet of unterminated wires tucked up by the spare tire that are tied into the main harness coming back from the front of the truck. There are smaller-gauge wires for the park, directionals, 3rd brake light, etc. as well as three heavy-gauge (looks like about 10) wires, one of which is supposed to be an auxiliary 12V supply, one is a wire for the electric trailer brakes, and one is a ground, IIRC.

I would like to get the aux. power and electric brake wires connected to my 7-pin plug for my camper. I know where to connect them on my plug, but I do not know where these wires come out at the front of the truck so I can tie them into a fused lead to the battery and my trailer brake controller.

Does anyone know where they are terminated on the other end of the vehicle? They are both dead, and I tried putting fuses into the open slots in the fusebox but no luck.

Thanks...

Anyone made these connections? Am I the only one who is going to be using electric trailer brakes?

Re: Where is the wire harness for electric trailer breaks??

I can answer this question!

While I was doing the clutch on my '96 pickup, I found the other end of the mystery trailer harness wires! They are in the harness for the taillights which runs right up the tramerail and comes out under the hood, right next to the clutch and brake master cylinder. The red power wire was already terminated with a ring terminal and a glass 30A inline fuse. There is also a 12V power strip right there with stud connections for the ring terminal. Sweet!
The blue brake wire is just bare - for the end user to figure out where to go with it from there.

You may need to hunt around some, mine were folded back and taped up against the split loom.

That must be what that other wire is for. I used those to wire up my line of fire bar. and there was 2 extra wires. one for reverse lights and the other must have been electric trailer brakes. He is right tho look along the L/H frame rail towards the back of the truck. Follow your harness from your tail lights back to the hitch harness. Dont expect a trailer plug. It will be wires cut off just chilling up there somewhere.
