TSX Projector Retrofit (HID)

Just recently finished up my newest HID retrofit. I got some Euro DEPO headlamps and put in some projectors from a 2004 TSX. This retro took up more time than any of my other retrofits put together, because the projectors are so wide they barely fit, I had to hack the crap out of the housings. Anyways, here are some pics.

Re: TSX Projector Retrofit (HID)

you should get black housed headlights and transfer the HID's to those... it would match 10x better, but they still look good... nice job

Re: TSX Projector Retrofit (HID)

I considered that, but changed my mind in the end because of the chrome on the front end, I just wanted a little black so I blacked out that part of the headlamp.

They won't fit unfortunately. The TSX have a 2.5in diameter lens, and they barely clear the headlamp, the TL is a 3 inch diameter lens, plus it has the Bi-X solenoid. I wanted to put Bi-X in but there was just no way, not even with the E46.

I dont think they have a smiley face to xepress how sad i am. Bi-xenon projectors are sooo god dang sexy! So there is no way you could get one to fit? I hope they make one in the very near future that will work. I bet w/ enough interest here on the forum we could get a bunch custom manufactured.

Re: TSX Projector Retrofit (HID)

Someone on the forum made a TSX projector into a Bi-X. I am not sure where he situated the solenoid, but that is a possibility.

Re: TSX Projector Retrofit (HID)

Very nice. Were the projectors modded any? Would you say thats the best output out of all your retro-fits?

Yeah, these projectors by far have the best output out of any other ones I have had, they are very bright.

To each their own I suppose, I like the way it looks, because when you see it in person the chrome bezel pops out. The output on these is incredible, the best set of HID I have owned thus far, and hopefully my last retro for this truck, these things really were tough to fit in. Also Jeremy sorry I didn't answer your question last time, these projectors are unmodded.

Re: TSX Projector Retrofit (HID)

would you say the HID projectors from a TSX are better or worse than the ones in the first kit on the page here http://www.hidplanet.com/package.html

cuz I'm gonna look really hard into buying the whole deal around xmas time and doing the retrofit and I want to use good projectors from the start. And it wont matter if mine come out black all around...I have black halo projectors off ebay now anyways

Re: TSX Projector Retrofit (HID)

The TSX's are an all around better projector the the Bosch e46's. I don't think there is any aspect of lighting that the Bosch is better at. Maybe price, size, and availability, but that's it.

I really couldn't have said it better myself. I had some Bosch projectors in my previous retrofit, Ihave some pics posted on this website in the Electrical ssection I believe. The awesome thing about the Bosch is that they are verrrry easy to work with, especially in the headlamps you are speaking of. They have a pretty decent spread also for such a small projector. In the end, getting those projectors are 100x better than buying a drop in HID kit. If you decide to do it, shoot me a PM and I will be more than happy to help you out along the way judds.

Re: TSX Projector Retrofit (HID)

Wow, I love the way those TSX's look. I have a set of the projectors in my room. I still need to pick up some ballasts and bulbs and a set of housings to cut into. Could you take a picture of the backside of the housing so I could see how they fit?

Thanks

Oh and I like the way it looks like it has eyes. It draws your attention to the projectors although I don't think people really know what is going on with them to be impressed with the work involved and how good it works.

Thanks for the comments, they will be off my truck here in a bit I have to finish sealing them up as well as put a new bumper on the truck, I will be more than happy to grab some pics of the back, but I must warn you they are not pretty, I literally had to cut half of the low beam portion off to get these things to fit. I repaired it with JB Weld to hold out the water and to help get back some of the structural integrity of the headlamp.
