Overhead Console Wiring (Large Pics)

Alright, I have been searching through my information and gathering wiring connector diagrams for Overhead Consoles. I also have PDF documents that detail a 2003 Instrument panel, gauges, overhead console, center console and more. It’s almost 200 pages long. If anyone would like to host this file online or wants a copy, PM me. Here are some diagrams from 97 and 2002 and 03. I think these cover the different styles. If you have a style (wire colors) that’s different, contact me and I can post yours also.

1997 DIC without Mode

1997 DIC Mode Console

2002 DIC without Mode

2002 DIC Mode Console

2003 schematics

I prefer the connector views, but they are hard to find. If you need anything PM me, I’m trying to keep this thread primarily information and wiring diagrams so please don’t post unless it’s important.

2002 Instrument Cluster Wiring. The Overhead console is in the bottom right of the first picture. The second picture shows the rest of the wiring.

Here are the wiring diagrams for a 2002 Astro. It has different wiring colors.

Different style schematic

Here is a resistance table for the temperature sensor.

It should work being both are 98+, however, I don't know if anyone has actually got one to work with the 2.2. I know they work fine in the 4.3, but I'm still waiting on verification for the 4-banger.

The purple wire is for a dimming feature or something. Not really needed I believe.

The yellow wire should be able to be hooked up at the bcm, however, it'd be a lot easier to hook it up to the data port under the dash.

Re: Overhead Console Wiring (Large Pics)

so? kickin that dead horse again... i pulled a mode dic out of a 2000 blazer and wired it up in my 99 s10 WITH the 2.2.. it displays, it resets, it calibrates, but none of the mpg stuff works.. after 30 seconds all displays go to --

did ANYONE ever get this working in a 2.2 truck? not sure why it wont tho,, i mean a 2.2 and a 4.3 should take in relativly the same info into the cpu right???

ide love to have the extra features, but if its not compatible ill just stick with the compass and temp dic

Re: Overhead Console Wiring (Large Pics)

So far I have only heard/seen these work with the 4.3 and the 4.3 only. Even people who do V8 swaps lose functionality of the DIC. So until someone says otherwise, these mode consoles are only for the V6. Sorry man.

When I use the google docs folders, even downloading as pdf files cuts the images short... for example, the 2002 mode 7 thru 15 connector cuts off 13 thru 15... is there a reason why and did you know this or no? I did save this thread as well as the individual pics in it but they are cut off at least for me either viewed in google folders or "saved as...pdf" from google menus...

Re: Overhead Console Wiring (Large Pics)

Hey, first post! I have a 95 GMC Sonoma SLS extended cab, and an overhead console I bought years ago out of an I don't know what anymore... It's a long second gen Blazer/Jimmy, (maybe Bravada), with temp and compass only (US/MET & ON/OFF buttons) and this 6 wire connector:
http://i648.photobucket.com/albums/u...ithoutmode.jpg
And a second 4 wire connection with these color wires as part of the harness:
White
Orange
Black
yellow or light yellow.
These have different color wires going to the dome light and directional spots themselves in the console.
I've also see the yellow wire from both connections (4 & 6 wire) end up together down stream in the harness, before reaching the mulit wire connector at the other end.

I'm having a hard time finding information on wiring this version up at all.

Now, one thing I've found in back of the cab, where the factory dome light is (I want to eliminate this if I can and just use the console dome light instead.), there are the same 4 color wires the 4 wire plug on the console has, Orange & white powering the dome light, plus a black and yellow that look to be, just riveted to the plastic dome light bracket. I haven't (nor do I want to) removed the headliner. Can I just patch into them for the general lighting connections?
By the way, here's my truck...

Thanks!

Re: Overhead Console Wiring (Large Pics)

Too late to edit, I've guessed, the yellow and black wire at the dome light are for the third brake light, duh.

Yes I did it. I don't have a detailed write up but have some pics in my baja thread.
