Lost power to radio

Was putting new speakers in the front of my truck. 93 S10. Also had my stereo unit out, but after i put it back in it wouldn't turn on. Checked out the radio fuse, fine. Took it back out checked the fuse on the back of the unit and it was fine, then used a tester to see if i was even getting power to it and nothing. Checked all the wires (that i can see anyway), and everything seems fine. any ideas? Hate wires Ran out of sunlight so i gave up for tonight....

Re: Lost power to radio

the constant hot for the radio is a seperate plug from the rest of the harness. did you check that?

Re: Lost power to radio

I had this problem last week with my super tuner 3. Somehow it managed to blow the radio but none of the fuses.

Re: Lost power to radio

Figured out it is the constant hot, ground wire is fine. Not sure what the problem is but i didnt have time to really do anything so i did a ghetto temp fix and just used my cig lighter hot to power the radio haha. Any easy ways to getting to that wire, so i can do a proper fix?

Re: Lost power to radio

There is a seperate harness for the constant hot. It goes from the radio to the fuse box. (If I recall correctly) I think the only way to get to it is to remove the dash.

Ok thanks man, thats what i figured. Should be a fun weekend project lol. Might as well get some LEDs while i have it out to replace my dash lights that are getting dim or burnt out.

You can use the cig lighter as the constant hot, it is fused. You can also run a new wire from the fuse box that is a constant hot. I personally wouldn't pull the dash just for that wire. Pulling the cluster to replace burnt out lights is easy. You can have the cluster out in about 30 minutes.
