Re: led light bulb comparison

heh, if only it were that simple.

IIRC, there are two 3mm LEDs and one 5mm in the driver side door controls, and one 3mm in the passenger. just regular LEDs, from SBL.. but I flattened the heads on some of them so they'd work better. also, on the passenger side, you have to aim the bulb just right so it lights up the whole of both switches. the rear window switches have a single 5mm flat-headed LED. The 4x4 system is 3 3mm LEDs for the status indicators and a 5mm for the backlight. The headlight switch is a 3mm flat-headed. I used 470 ohm resistors behind all except the 4x4 status lights, as they were already LEDs to begin with.

oh and btw, the headlight switch is a major bitch, as you have to have the resistor inline inside the tube. unless you do some severe modifications of the switch itself

if you guys want pics, I can always go pull them out of the truck.

Blazer tails have the bulbs facing out...S10's face to the outside. Anybody else with a Dime do the 360 LED bulb comparison with their tails?

Re: led light bulb comparison

unless you have the automated HVAC, it's only 4 bulbs (6 if you have a rear window defogger)

and as for pics, I'll have those up in a few minutes.

Re: led light bulb comparison

ok guys, sorry so long on the pics, was quite busy today with continuous snowfall LOL

So anyway, I'm pretty much am fed up with SuperBrightLED's #74 bulbs, I managed to break 1 more just pulling them out of the HVAC cluster, and a different one went out as I was driving. I can't recommend them anymore. Then I burned one up accidentally applying 12v to it my fault... And it just figures that I can't find any of my backups now ..

Anyways, on to the pics:

Here are the door control bulb holders and lights, driver side:

Passenger side:

Here's how I have it pointed, directly into the distributor...

Foglight Switch (I do not know how to do the foglight ON indicator, as I do not actually have fog lights. lol)

Window Lock Switch:

Rear Defog:

Headlight Switch Bulb (look closely, you can see the blue of the resistor inside ):

Rear Window Controls:

Mirror Controls:

And for you 4x4 guys :

Oh, and for my completely being overboard.......................

Sorry for my extremely long picture laden megapost
No, my camera does not have a macro function. It's a 2MP camera. I bought it in 2002. WHAT do you want from me
if I missed anything, let me know, I can always take more pics

Re: led light bulb comparison

i know very few people will be interested but im goign to try and order some 194s for my dash next week . The thing is ive got a 1968 pickup dash in my blazer. The lighting design is less then great. But none the less if there is anyone reading this that has a steel dash swap using stock guages it will help iprove the half century old lighting lol.

Re: led light bulb comparison

By sockets I mean the actual brake lenses. I want to see how they are lit up... the way a stock bulb works is with two filaments, one for the running lights and 1 for the brake light. I'm curious how it works with the LED's, are half of them on for the running lights and then all of them for the brakes, or all on at a low voltage for running and then all on for brakes...?

Please pardon the crappiness of the pictures, I wasn't the photographer. Also, I didn't do the dash stuff, just the 2 footwell lights, 2 map lights and the rear seat overhead light.

My issue is that because of the sunroof the light is over the back seats instead of right over my shoulder like in Chris' truck

Re: led light bulb comparison

I got my LEDs in tonight, basically looks the same as these other guys pics but I'll post my own up...

The 20 LED 211/212 bulbs fit nice inside the map lights if anyone was wondering...

all I had to do was bend in the tabs a little...

stock lights...

Now all the LED's in...

48 LED for the dome (light cover on)

light cover off..

The feet lights/map lights look blue in the pic but they look fine. just the way my camera was set I guess.

Amazing, I love them, well worth the money.
