re: 194/3157/211 led bulb comparison

well the shipment came in from v-leds.com...one short but i am talking to them about it..so far i very impressed with the quality of the lights.. i have seen many led bulbs and these so far look like the best quality so far...nothing looks cheap or weak...we shall see..

i got a full autometer cluster to try the 360 ones in.. i know i will be happy with them but i am going to post up my pics of that..

i also have a s10 with stock dome light and caddy tail lights to try this in.. only bad thing abut the caddy lights is they are not in the bezel but you will get the idea.. but so far i put the dome lights in my blazer and i am very happy with the light output...i will be using my white blazer as a test dummy...so this should go well...

re: 194/3157/211 led bulb comparison

ok got some more test done.. and i found the best bulb i believe for plate lights for a 98+ s10 or blazer
it is a flat top led that has a heatsink that i am told will extend the life of the led bulb since heat is what kills them (its true i have had several of the non heatsink ones go bad and they do run hot)

this is the 360 dgree ones from early test

now this is the flat top heatsink one

and for shits and giggles this is stock bulbs

they are the same size as a regular bulb but perform better...these pics were taken with a regular shutter speed.. you be the judge...

re: 194/3157/211 led bulb comparison

i also got my hands on some 3157 bulbs for running/brake lights..

now i need to test these in a s10 light but so far i have the pics from my blazer..the ones in the pic above are white...i used the correct color for the light..so red in red and so on...
stock on the right and led on the left running light...i would say better output from these pics...and in person they have a sharper color

close up of led tail...running light

you can see that the entire lense is lit up

now this is the stock bulb...running light

this is again stock right and led left...brake lights only

it is a much crisper light in person and there is no mistaking these regular bulbs with there fast turn on..

now the same bulbs but for reverse...i was not to happy with...yes they look cool but if you need to see stick with regular bulbs..

re: 194/3157/211 led bulb comparison

now on to the front 3157 and 194 running in amber...the 3157 are the same looking as the brake lights but the 194 is different looking and is a bit longer then the stock bulb...it is the one at the bottom of the pic...edit...these are too long to fit in a 94-97 s10 side marker... but fit fine in a 98+

stock regular bulbs

running light with both leds

blinker on with running light

blinker only...and yes the 194 is not lit up since it does not work with both "forward" and "reverse" voltage

not much of a difference with the front bulbs..but you can tell the change in brightness from one to the other...
so these get a thumbs up from me as well...

re: 194/3157/211 led bulb comparison

moving on to interior bulbs..man are these bright!
this is a light that will work with many applications
i think these will work well in the under dash foot lights since they come with the 194 base and have double side tape to stick them to the panel..i will try them soon under dash to compare

this pic does it no justice

so i took a pic with no extended shutter speed of it lighting up my wall

amazing...

this one is just as bright but more spread out

this is what i am using right now in the blazer for the front dome light

i am not kidding when i say they are bright..

i am going to do a test soon in a stock s10 to show the light difference using these

they are forward only facing and are pretty bright...you will see

re: 194/3157/211 led bulb comparison

for the hell of it i took my cluster that i made for my sonoma

yellow rugular bulbs standard shutter speed

one second shutter

four second shutter

now the fav. 360 led
regular shutter

one second shutter

four second shutter

hands down the best gauge bulb ever..the one second shutter speed i would say is the best to real life output

now all i have to do is test them in my cluster and we are set for them

re: 194/3157/211 led bulb comparison

so far i am blown away by the quality from www.v-leds.com
not only do they ship fast, have many many applications but the craftsmanship that is put into these units is just amazing
again these lights were paid out of pocket and nothing swayed my opinion other then the real world results

Brian this thread is awesome! I'm glad someone did a comparison of the bulbs. I think I may wonder over to vleds' site now. I bought some "cool white" leds from superbrightleds and they look more blue than anything, they arent that bright, and one is already defective after like 2 months.

You wouldn't mind getting other colors and seeing how bright they are would you

Definately interior. Maybe just the usual colors people use like red blue green and such. I didn't see any 5 SMT's in color just the 9's though

well this is what i have in my blazer...only this is blue..so if you like the light output in the interior shot...you will like this...but let me test it in a s10 dome light to see if it fits...its very large and you have to figure out a way to secure it...no big deal

I wanna say they are 3mm bulbs that you need to solder in. But I'll wait until you confirm anything.

i really dont want to get into that since it was covered so well in the interior how to...plus if i did that i would have to get many dash parts to test them in...

i picked the lights i have done so far since they have not changed in s10's or blazers...

shit the dome light is the same from 82-05..lol

Well done Brian.

On a side note regarding the heatsink LED, I thought LEDs ran cold? It's the reason snow has to be brushed off big rig led tail/marker lights, the snow doesn't melt like with a normal bulb...

its not the leds that run hot..its the resistor inside...they get hot

Yeah definately. I got the same cathodes but from pictures of these LED's they look so much better, plus I'm sure they are a ton easier to hide.

I was also thinking maybe we can contact v-leds about a possible group buy
