Just bought HID conversion

I just bought these!! http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...K%3AMEWAX%3AIT

Does anyone else on here use them? And quick question: Do I have to upgrade my wiring to bigger wire to use HIDs or is stock fine?

Re: Just bought HID conversion

wire size should be fine, you'll want to run a relay in there though.

Re: Just bought HID conversion

^What's wrong with the 10000K? My best friend has 12000K on his chevy and they are great. NOT trying to start a war over color temps just wondering. I know they don't have as much light output at the 6000K or 8000K but they are still better than halogen.

Guess it depends on who you buy from most of the time the 10K are a light purple and 12k is purple.

Re: Just bought HID conversion

Ok so I guess if the 12K is more blue than purple, the 10K should be a nice deep blue.

Re: Just bought HID conversion

I believe the original purpose of the relay was to use the stock truck wiring to trip the relay, and have a larger wire (or maybe just a separate wire straight from the fuse block or battery), because the HID's draw a TON of amperage when igniting. They use less amperage when they're lit for a while, but too much for our systems to handle when they ignite. I didn't run a relay for a few months, and I had a really close call. My passenger side light would always flicker for a minute before the light would turn on, unless you flashed the brights. That's because the stock wiring couldn't handle both headlights igniting at the same time. If I flashed the brights, it gave the charging system a chance to catch up for a second, then it would be fine. Anyways, my lights ended up blowing both left and right side headlight fuses! It took me a little while to figure out, because I didn't know there were separate fuses for each side! Anyways, I ran relays to each headlight, and now both ignite immediately, with no flickering whatsoever! There is a HUGE difference of response time on them! After they are turned on, they ignite and warm up immediately!

Re: Just bought HID conversion

Ok well I got my HID kit from China today (DHL=fast shipping)!! Now all I need is the relay harness and i'll be ready to install them! If I wear rubber gloves, can I touch the bulbs without damaging them? Also where does everyone mount the ballasts?

Re: Just bought HID conversion

I'm getting the relay harness today so my dad and I will put them on...
Will the rubber gloves be okay for touching the bulbs?
And where is the best place to mount each ballast?

Re: Just bought HID conversion

You can get away with not touching the bulbs at all would be best.

Put them in the headlights first so they are out of the way and not pron to get touched or broke.

Mount the ballast some place where it won't get water on it.

Re: Just bought HID conversion

Ok i'll wear the gloves and put them in the headlights right away. I'll look around my engine bay and try to find a good spot where they won't get hot and won't get water on them. What about mounting them in the inner/outer core support or even in the bumper if the wires are long enough?

I have ballasts mounted in the bumper, grille, and core support. I have 3 sets of HID's on my truck. IF you still need help, I'm always free after 4.

First you have to buy 4x6 Conversion housings, around $30. Then I bought the pnp HID kit from Ebay for $100 shipped. But it has high beams and low beams using a tilt motor on the HID's.

I bought mine from

Seller
flashplus
vvmecom@gmail.com

You can buy HID's for $60 if you don't want the high beams. Personally, I wanted it. As for the housings, the housings i have are way better than stock or the previous conversion housings. But I had to do minimal trimming to get them to fit. Although, it was simple to do with a dremel.

PM me for more info as this isn't our thread.

Re: Just bought HID conversion

I mounted my ballasts in the very top of the bumper so I didn't have to drill any holes for the bolts. It's dark here now and oh my god!! These are soo sick!! My dad has silverstar bulbs on his 98 Z71 and we compared them and the hids are so much better.

I had to go buy some battery terminal things tho so I could bolt on the relay to the battery. Other than that, EASY install only took like an hour. BUT now my speedo is pinned at 100mph??? All my other guages work perfectly but the speedo will not move..Anyone know what could have happened?

Next mod: Sport mirrors then a DROP.

Re: Just bought HID conversion

Nevermind about the speedo I drove my truck about 1/4 mile and it started working. After driving I am so happy I bought these! So much farther and wider it's amazing.
