I have replaced the computers(the one under the dash and the one in the kick panel) since they are installed they are used and not returnable. Can anyone tell me where the grounds are for to the dash items?
I have removed cleaned and reattached the harness grounds under the hood.
I still have the a/c heater issue where when it runs all the dash goes dead except the tach when the hvac switch is anywhere but off.
And now it doesn't run at all. Turn the key on and get no fuel pump kick in or spark when cranking.

anyone?
Turns out the Black box attached to the ignition switch was shorted. I accidently gave it a whack when replacing the Multifunction with a known good one brought all the lights in the dash on again. So i have spent and obscene amount of money on stuff that didn't need to be replaced.

Re: Broken Hazard Switch Repair How-to!

I am so glad I found this just now. I broke mine off and the damn hazzard lights won't shut off. (I had to change the bulb for the high beam indicator, Tired of getting the high beams from other driver's because I forget to turn the damn things off)

I am so glad I'm not the only Dumbass that did this. I ordered the whole thing from the parts store. $245 I'm sure as hell not picking that thing up tomarrow. Off to the Dealer I go.

YOU ARE AWESOME!!!

Re: Broken Hazard Switch Repair How-to!

I tried to take a pic to show you guys but I can't get a good angle on it. One of the little copper pieces in the inside of the hole where the hazzard button goes is broke. I don't have brake lights or turn signals?

If someone has one with a broken hazzard button I'll take it. I got the repair kit yesterday. Mine is also black instead of red.

Can you check for me if this is the same part # as a Silverado 95-98? GMPartsDirect says it is but the parts store says there 2 differant part #'s.

Re: Broken Hazard Switch Repair How-to!

I found out htey are the same. Escalades, Full Size trucks, and Astro Vans from 95-98 are the same as the S10, Jimmy, Sonoma, And Blazer 95-97.

If anyone needs a Hazzard Switch I have Red and Black. 2 of each. I'll sell them for $10 w/ Shipping.

PM sent. Just broke mine 10 minutes ago

I just got my painless wiring harness in a few days ago and had all the signals and lights working and I broke it test fitting my custom dash. Thanks to the forum for saving me some cash!

Question Re: Broken Hazard Switch Repair How-to!

does anyone knows exactly how does the hazard switch work? what do I mean is that I broke mine and followed the steps on the forum on how to replace ..which worked great; however it always makes me wonder if the broken switch would have worked if I had super glued the red piece back on top of the switch ? no...if no why not? I looked at the broken switch vs the new switch and they look exactly the same as in where it broke, seems like some super heavy super glue would have done it

Re: Broken Hazard Switch Repair How-to!

The reason the hazard switch and to an overall extention, the multifunction switch can cause brake light issues is because it's all tied into the same circuits. Going with just the hazard switch to start is far better than spending 250 on the multifunction switch... It's at least worth a shot.

Re: Broken Hazard Switch Repair How-to!

Accept my thanks, too! Yesterday trying to reinstall the dash piece I broke the switch and found this fantastic fix! $16+ and a few minutes later, life is good Unlike some other post, the local Chevrolet shop didn't try to "upsell" me anything. They brought out the part and asked if that's what I needed and I was ready to roll.

Thanks again for the great pictures and inexpensive fix.

i had a problem on my wife's 97 blazer with the brake lights, both lower brake lights and the 4 ways didnt work either. but the 3rd brake light worked. i called a dealer w/ this part # and it turns out it was a recall for that problem on certain blazers jimmy's and envoys

hope that helps someone too

Re: Broken Hazard Switch Repair How-to!

Rlith! Thank you so damn much!

I broke the switch removing the bezel. I got as far as pulling the airbag, the column covers, etc and was ready to order a new turn signal assembly online, when I read this. Thanks again!

Just ordered it from gmpartsdirect.....crumbs, didn't realize it would take a week! Blah....guess I better be careful with the braking, etc.

Re: Broken Hazard Switch Repair How-to!

I broke mine again too like a dumbass putting a new radio in yesterday.

Are you sure you have it in the whole way? Because you have to push it in pretty far.

Let me know. I think I still have another used assembly in the garage. I used it for awhile but It doesn't have Cruise. I'll look if you think you need it.

Re: Broken Hazard Switch Repair How-to!

You have a Stick Don't you? I've taken the one out in my S-10 and it's easy. But with an automatic you have the stick on the column in the way.

Re: Broken Hazard Switch Repair How-to!

Wow am I Glad I found this sticky. I was installing a radio and a friend of mine was helping me and he pulled the dash bezel and broke my switch. I couldnt get my flashers to turn off so I took a screwdriver and jammed the broke piece back in the whole and they finally stopped flashing but now I have no turn signals. I will definitely be ordering this part and hopefully I didnt mess it up too bad when I jammed the screwdriver in there. we will see.
