blinkers & brake lights won't work need help

I have a 89 s10 p/u 4x4 and I can't get my brake lights to work. I have put in new bulbs, new stop light switch, cut the wires and rewired them together. I don't know what else it could be. If you have any info that might help please let me know. Also does anyone know a round about price range for having the brake lights rewired by a body shop? Again if you have any helpful info let me know asap.

There's a flat chunk of wire that runs the length of the cab inside (under the drivers side carpet). That's got all the marker, brake light, etc. signals.

Pull back the carpet a bit, and check for power on the dark green & yellow wires (those are the signals, and of course brake lights) when you're stepping on the brakes.

You didn't mention if the FRONT signals work at all, or if you have rear markers.
