Re: 97 jimmy composite headlight question

i knew what you meant...not sure on colors matching... i know the driver side will have 6 wires and the passenger will have 3

they jump from the one plug to the other...black is ground...

but get a test light and test them...its simple...

Re: 97 jimmy composite headlight question

to be honest i just built a headlight wire upgrade + conversion harness for ssfan it should make the swap go pretty smooth, not to mention the added light output, im thinking about hooking it up in my truck tomorrow just to make sure everything works smoothly and ive got everything plugged into the right place, im worried about my diode being backwards and some of the headlight wires as well since i had the tech flex on them before i plugged them in and dumb ass me didnt mark wires.

mine have been kind of sensative recently too, but my headlights are actually adjusted lower than they should be, so they are bright but they are not high enough not to blind people

Re: 97 jimmy composite headlight question

IMO the silver stars dont do much without the upgraded harness, ive had the silverstars for about 3-4 years and i just did the wire upgrade a couple months ago, it made a HUGE difference, beandips thread has pics of before and after with silverstars

personally, id look at the nokya bulbs, you can get them in standard and high wattage, you can usually pick them up for $15 shipped per pair on ebay, ive heard good things about them versus sylvania, im planning to get the high wattage sets for mine

Re: 97 jimmy composite headlight question

you might actually need to adjust the angle of the headlights, and personally id go with a 98+ sonoma bumper and a 94-97 sonoma grill.... im not biased or anything...

not really a fan of the gmc grille but u never know what mite happen lol so how do u aim these mofo's? the long hex headed adjusters are for up and down and the inverted torx are left and right?

Re: 97 jimmy composite headlight question

ive never found a reason for the long ones except maybe angle the lights or to lock the inverted torx

the inside inverted torx is your horizontal and the outside is your up and down, you can use a regular 1/4 inch socket to adjust those

it took me a while to get mine aimed where i want em, i never could find a dark enough level spot to aim them, so id drive with them and adjust them and repeat until i finally got them at least close

Re: 97 jimmy composite headlight question

well the retarded ass adjusters are garbage on the passenger side. luckily i was just able to kinda tug on em at the adjusting point, and becuz they're just plastic where the adjusters thread thru they just moved along the threads. i was real careful not to jack em up in the process tho, turned out pretty good tho. i had my buddy park rite next to me side by side and he turned his lights on at the garage door then i turned mine on and just used his as a cheat sheet basicaly. oh and i believe ur rite about the hex headed shafts just bein locks

Re: 97 jimmy composite headlight question

well, i got my old headlights out to steal one of the headlight plug pins and i looked at the adjustment system, the torex uses a nut on a gear to move the lens angle left right up and down, the nut can get stripped out and thats how you can move them by hand (my old lights)

the hex head adjusters can tilt the headlights so if your lights are winking at you like the 98+ has a problem with you can change the angle, and from what i could tell, you could even center them vertically with the grille if you have a fitment issue with the same hex head adjustments

Re: 97 jimmy composite headlight question

I was about to suggest the gmc front fascia but it seems by oldschools pic you would have a gap in the middle. Just find you a junker bravada, shouldn't be too hard. I put a Bravada front end on my truck but I opted for the 98-02 instead of the 95-97, I just like the never ones better.

Re: 97 jimmy composite headlight question

you know what, i think I am wrong but if you measure your current grille as compared to the 98-02's you could use that front fascia instead since it looks better. It will look just like the one in my avatar. I haven't got the foglamp kit yet but I am, also haven't put my grille in yet because I need to file out some of the retaining points.

Re: 97 jimmy composite headlight question

i think the big headlights and the newer bravada grill looks like ass lol, i'm either get the 96-97 bumper or i'm gonna run a 98 and up dime bumper and i'll make a fiberglass filler or maybe even steel for the gap. the lights are aimed pretty good and i'll be on the look out for a set in better shape but for now all my lights work and it's all together so ima rock it the way it is for a few weeks then i'm takin it off the road for the winter cuz theres more important things to be done. during that time i'll be searchin for the olds bumper which i do have a line on a couple but they're out in the boons so we'll see what happens. either way i'm fairly confident i'll have it lookin right again this spring

important things such as...cab corner, cutting the front coils to cure the lean and get it down further, rear swaybar,c-notch,clean and paint the frame, gettin sum spacers for my bed to replace the lost ones so my cab and bed will be flush again and welding up a small crack in my floor board.. man thats a laundry list lol and who know i mite not get any of it done lol jk

I wouldn't suggest cutting your springs for a variety of reasons starting with safety but it's your truck.

yeah i know how the majority feels about cuttin em but i'm only doin a half coil or so. even if i buy new springs ima end up choppin sum off one side the cure the stupid chevy lean anyways cuz i don't want to jam a spacer in there and end up gettin 2 inches of drop instead of the 3 on one side. long story short the front needs to come down to level out with the rear,i'm tired of lookin at a leanin ass truck regardless if i'm the only one that can tell it's leanin and i have no money so yeah

cutting isnt a problem, just go slow and keep the heat down, you will need to take out about half a coil, its how track cars suspensions are tuned

half a coil will not cause them to pop out, and that would only happen if the front wheel came clear off the ground and you didnt have shocks

You made a good point. So the guys who say spacers are unsafe cause they can pop out. That could not happen unless it took the shock clean out with it also.

Re: 97 jimmy composite headlight question

pretty much, unless they dont wrap around the spring and just raise the spring and bushing up, you will have less of a pocket for the spring to sit in
