oooh what to do?

ok so today i got a phone call from a friend of mine (pretty much my brother known him his whole life) that will be commin home from iraq at the end of may. he has said it several times before that he wants to buy my truck, but i have just takin it as a compliment and thought nothing of it. well needless to say he told me today that when he comes home that he wants my truck and he is willing to pay $13,000 for it cash money, his offer, not my price. now as alot of u are like me, you would never sell ur truck but then again this would pay off all my debt and still leave me with bout $4000 to play with. i know that i would never get this amount from anyone but here it lays on the table. i want to do it but yet at the same time this has been my baby and my hard work for 5 years. hell i just got done bagging it on 20's and havent even drove the truck for 2 1/2 years plus its only been shown twice in 2 years. u all know what kinda work and time is spend into our trucks and im affraid that once i let it go that the moment it leaves i will want it back. plus once its gone it will be 28 hours away and i will always wonder what is goin on with it. so my question is, what do yall think i should do? keep it for a year to enjoy then sell or sell now and start a new project. pics are in photobucket. thanks for ur input

Re: oooh what to do?

i know the feeling of all the hard work, but it all depends on what you really want. The 4k you will have left can get you another truck/project if thats what you want. But if you don't feel your ready to part w/ all your hard work then don't. Enjoy all the effort you put into it, only sell it if it feels right to you. Myself i would prob. have to keep it just to enjoy it, but it you are in need of the money to pay off debt then really think of which will pay off more for you.

Re: oooh what to do?

If your sell it to him, remind him he's not driving Humvee's in the desert anymore. My buddy got out of the Marines after serving in Iraq almost 4 years ago and he still drives like that.

Re: oooh what to do?

not to sound like a dick but tell him 15 and it his. that way you have more money to put into a project, have your bills paid, he feels he paid right for a nice truck, you have more money and all is said and done. then again im the kind of person who has business at heart. id sell my arm if i knew i could get more than its worth lol jk.

Re: oooh what to do?

I say sell it...At least it will still be in the family. especially if you are close with your brother. you could probably still drive it if you ask.

But in the end it's still your decision...not ours

Re: oooh what to do?

sell it. wouldn't even be a question for me. I just sold my baby. she was my first truck. had her for almost 7 years. but I got a good offer for her and I took it. I think the offer you're getting is one you just can't pass up. that's a lot of money for an S10, even with the custom work. I know it's sad, as much money as we put into these things we never get it back, but still, that's a good price!

as for it being 28 hours away, don't see that as a negative. that's a good thing. think of it this way, if you sell it to him and does something to it you wish you'd done or something along those lines, you won't see it to say "aw man, I wish I'd done that" and if he were to do something you wouldn't approve of, you won't be around to see it and cringe. so either way I see that as a plus. I know that's how I felt selling my truck to a kid about two hours away in an area of the state I never travel to.

it's hard to watch it go, but it gets better. that is, if you're ready to see it go. you have to be in the frame of mind to see it go. even then it will still be hard, but that feeling passes. being debt free with four grand cash left over would be enough to get me in that frame of mind. I wish $13k would get me out of all my debt!

Yeah, I've had friends sell their trucks to local folks, then see it with a wing on it or all busted up and ragged out. Like I said, I was glad to sell mine to a kid from a place I never go.

While I'm here I'm gonna say it again, sell the truck while you can get that much for it and enjoy being debt free!

Re: oooh what to do?

yeah he is comming home early just talked to him on mon. he gets home from afganastan on may 5th and he wants the truck still. so i told him thats fine i just want to get the firewall done to tuck the 20's and atleast get the engine bay and truck into paint. he said that if i wanted to that since its goin to take him a lil while to come out and get it that i can still have it for the show season so i can have a lil fun with it before i let it go. so i think i already found my new project and its goin to cost me 3 grand but ive always wanted to do one. its a 95 chevy 4 door dually deisel. body is strait just needs some fuel lines fixed and maybe fuel pump. yes i wanna body a dually desiel. lol everyone does gas and i wanna do a deisel
