Notice #2

I have taken the gallery offline for the move. It will be back up by the end of the week. Also remember some things will be a little quirky and wierd this week but this is normal for a server move.

So please bare with us.

Thanks.

Currently we have a dual p3 933 with 2g o ram 2 36gb hd's and the normal server crap.

The problem is there are 3 large forums on it. and the loads of late have been in the 4's and jump up like crazy. mind you there is usualy anywhere from 200-600 users online the diffrent forums at a time.

But we are going to a dual ath 2200 system and probably adding annother server in the backround for just serving the databases.

That's how we have our main SQL and web servers running at work, separate boxes. main SQL box has 15000 RPM drives on a RAID controller with dual 933's and the main web server is on a 2GHz box with a GB of RAM. Works pretty good. Of course for the big apps, we just stick those on the AS/400 or RS6000.

Ever considered running a striped set across several drives for extra peformance? I run a 4 drive striped set on my home server and it hauls butt. (6000 MP3s and counting, I need the speed.)

All I've got to say is how do you catalog them all? And you could literally play all of them and not hear a duplicate for a loooooong time!

I use Musicmatch Jukebox. Awesome program. Last I checked, I have enough music for over two weeks of non stop tunes. I should start my own radio station.

Yeah, except I thought they are cracking down on them and now you have to pay royalties just like a regular station. Either way, since you're running your own server you could just about do anything!
