Forum growth and reputation
As some of you may or may not know, S10Forum.com has grown... nay, blown up at a rate that should make every single one of you proud to have been the force that has grown us to where we are today. Currently, there are 39,195 Members, GM s-series truck enthusiasts out there that have walked through our doors and accepted our hospitality. S10Forum.com was built by such enthusiasts, and is to this day run by them. We have become the 800 pound gorilla of the s-series discussion world. Personally, I'd like to stand up and give a hell yeah for that; again, it is all thanks to you, the member.
This brings me to the not so pleasant portion of this announcement. There has been rumblings about, elsewhere, that S10Forum is getting a bad reputation due to the sometimes harsh and loosly governed nature of this board. Again, we are run by a voulenteer group of enthusiasts. We're not suited business goons, and some times in running something this big, we make mistakes. The staff has discussed this, and we're going to be taking steps amongst ourselves to present a more professional presense. Now here comes your part in this, as a member of this site. I would like to ask you all to remember that we have one massive thing in common: we're all here because we like our trucks. It doesn't matter what flavor, be it bagged and dragged hardcore minitruckers, 4x4 guys, dragstrip beasts, or just people getting started and trying to keep their s-series running, they're all a common thread between us. I would like to ask of you that you all keep this in mind as you deal with your fellow S10F'ers. Mentor the newbies, try not to hate on somebody's pride and joy, and just in general try not piss in anyone's cereal. Ultimately, if you absolutely do need a place to vent or trash talk, please take it to the flames forum so that it doesn't get dragged out and cluttered in the main forums. We're not trying to end the party, or take the fun away, or anything of that nature. Why would we kill off what made this place great and what keeps people coming back, what makes this place stand heads above anyplace else? We're simply asking that common courtesy be something our members are well versed in. 2 new ground rules to keep in mind from this point forward: 1) If you feel the need to be a negative thorn in the side of the forum's side, irritating your fellow members, at the staff's discretion you will be provided with a 1 week grounding, with access only to the flames forum so that you may better understand how to use it. This also counts for giving the staff a hard time, we're members too. 2) If a staff member is personally involved in a dispute, another (uninvolved) staff member will be asked to intervene and mediate, so that there are no favorites played. If you feel that a dispute with a staff member is going unnoticed, or that the above rule has been neglected, feel free to report the post and we'll get right to it. Cliffs notes: Learn to be civil and play nice with your fellow S10Forum members or we will help you to do so. Read above for details. |

Re: Forum growth and reputation
there is definitely a lot of flaming on the board. all the "ricer" comments get pretty annoying. everyone needs to remember that people here are all s-10 enthusiasts and they all have different styles and opinions.

Re: Forum growth and reputation
Isnt that the truth I dont understand why ppl just dont post when they think something is stupid or ugly. I mean there is nothing wrong with constructive criticism but some ppl take it too far. Thats the reason why I havent got that many posts is becuase i jsut dont post if i have something bad to say, Unless i think it can help the person. Thats just my opinion though.

Re: Forum growth and reputation
Im down....
And honestly, there are no "ugly" trucks, even that eclipse/s10 abomination.. nope not ugly, just a creative endeavor that others dont like.... in that one's case, "others" means about 99.9999999998% of the general population (3 people in indo-china were asked and said it rocked like cowbell). We're all family here, and no one expects us to be the Brady Bunch because 1. its not gonna happen with more members than the Green party... and 2. that would be ghey. But I think we should avoid looking like a Jerry Springer meets Judge Judy afterschool special. |

I've said it before as well:
It's YOUR truck,, do what YOU want to do to it!! Constructive criticism is one thing,, negative and rude comments is anther. It's also one thing to state your opinion and "hate" the mod that has been done. With that said.... I hope people get the hint. |

Re: Forum growth and reputation
I, insert name here, do solemnly swear to try my best to uphold the standards hereby set forth and also all of the precluded rules and regulations set forth by the owners and administrators of s10forum.com . This means that I will try my best not to post when I dislike someone else's ideas, and I will try to post positive comments as much as possible when I like a vehicle and/or idea.
I will gladly set forth ideas that may or may not help another member if they are asking for help. I will not create multiple posts concerning the same thing about my vehicle. I will try to keep my truck running and looking as nice as I can afford to have it. I will not descriminate based on age, sex, color, religion, political affiliation, height of vehicle, etc. I will represent s10forum.com in the best manner possible, without being a wuss. As a member, I understand that my failure to uphold these standards will result in loss of my privileges to navigate and enjoy this forum. Respectfully signed, 5timedime ^^^^how's that sound? ![]() |

Re: Forum growth and reputation
on a note of opinions and such. Opinions are going to come, wether people like em or not. My suggestion to that is to do constructive criticism, as well as the person asking for thoughts, opinions, whatever to respect what the other people are saying. Not everyone is gonna be down with everything. I do get pissed at seeing the "REEEEpost" ish, as well as ricer stuff.
A big thing i think of too is that how many of ya'll are rockin the S10F shirts, beanies, stickers on your rides, notebooks, school lockers, foreheads, painted on the side of a pink shed, etc etc. people out there get curious about that and come check out the site, last thing i want is for people who saw the sticker, shirt, whatever from you think this site is a bunch of Aholes and out of control, and then think of you negatively from it. anywho, once again well done Shane. And thanks to everyone who has gotten the site to where it is now and where we can further expand it! Last edited by 00xtremeninja : 12-12-2005 at 08:22 PM. |

yup this forum is the shits!...im glad to be part of it...i know i got into it with a couple guys including AVtekk about the whole reverse 4 thing...but watevers...again i apologize guys...everyone is entitled to their opinions...the repost police need only give one warning about the search button...im sure like myself, everyones got enough trouble with the real police, so i don't think we need cops on here besides the mods...
AVtekk: you are totally right about a forward 4-link...my friend is currently installing one in his mitsu...and he has barely any pinion angle movement...ill be sure to do that on my next truck... |

The Forum has become alot better in the last few years, and I have obtain lots of useful information from it, and met some cool people, so thanks to everyone and I would be much happier if alot of the usless negativity went away or was tolerated much less especially towards new members posting up their trucks for the first time.
