would you?

So I'm looking for a new project... and I came across this.

http://tippecanoe.craigslist.org/mcy/3623767567.html

the guy says he doesn't have a title, no tank, and he doesn't know if the engine is seized or not. He seems young and not very knowledgeable when I talked to him. I have yet to go take a look at the bike

I know these xj engines are known for being pretty solid engines, but I also know their transmissions have issues.

I'm sure it would be a major overhaul, but for the price we settled on, I'm wondering if it'd be worth it.

Let me know what you would pay/if I should pull the trigger.

my plans would be to bring it back to factory to look like this:

Re: would you?

No title would scare me. I'm not sure what it's actually worth but I wouldn't pay over 1k and the cheaper the better obviously.

Re: would you?

dont bother. its not like there's anything of value on it as far as parting it out and you cant make anything out of the frame. just start with something proper.

Re: would you?

I agree with J. What you're wanting to do can be done but I would look for a better foundation to start with. A title would be nice too.
