what do i do now????
Hey eveyone. I bout my wife a mini van Oldsmobile Silhoette on monday and 5 days later it has a rod knocking bad. We barely put 150 miles on this thing and its blown up. I bought it from some shady ass dealership and they wont do anything about it. The owner actually laughed at me on the phone. So im going this monday to talk to my attourney. I bought it "AS IS" no warranty. But 5 days and 150 miles is absolutely rediculous. So now what do i do? Has anyone ever dealt with this kind of crap? I have never had a vehicle blow up even when i tried to blow up my 81 chevy. Any help will be appreciated.

I'd say screwed too, but you can give them a bad knock on the better business bureau
Lemon law may be an angle, but I don't think you will see any thing from it. |

Re: what do i do now????
those 3.1 and 3.4 engines will do this
it is one of our top repair jobs that come into our shop have had to pull ansd replace entire engines many times head gaskets and timing cover gaskets from factory were junk and allow water into cylinders burning water and can hydrolock a cylinder and cause damaged rod bearing or worse overheating and cooked cyl heads on these as well it happens ppl keep running driving them overhewating sand doing this until water is in oil and bearing damage has occured then they try to say its someone elses fault even though they continued driving it knowing that something bad was failing. when they should have parked it long ago even if it was a bad factory gasket weve got another one to replace head gaskets on here real soon, i think a grand am again the last one i had to do was a couple visiting form phoenix , they drove it past redline and cooked it so badly that the oil was cooked into the heads material top side and permanently stained even th3 hot tank couldnt remove it [hjeads were junk scrap cooked cracked warped done for, had to gert another dset of head sfor it, but i was able to replace them and they were ablew to drive the car back to AZ lucky the bottom end survived miraculously i dont know how had another one that dropped the oil pump or something else as bad at only 99k miles all original, odoometer not rolled over to 100k miles yet we bought the car as is and put another engine in it with hair over 100k on it and sold it for good profit, was a clean black 2 door so it was worth it its been doing great with its new owner lady out of town she has brought it to us for a couple small other things to repair, since then, a window lift motor and something else i forgot |

Re: what do i do now????
Well i looked into the lemon law a little one site says 18 months or 18k miles. Like i said if it was a couple of months later i wouldnt be so pissed. I checke the van over really good before i bought it and every thing seemed fine even the leaky gaskets, the oil looked great. I think it was loaded full of motor honey or something like that now tho. Ive been flaming there busness ever chance i get i did the bbb and angies list. Any other places i can report them or give them a bad rep??? I dont want anyone else getting screwed like me.

Re: what do i do now????
Lemon law is only for new cars. Did you sign a paper that you are aware that you were buying vehicle "as is"? If so, about all you can do is tell everyone about your bad experience. A dealer is required to have you sign/give you a copy.
A search turned up a facebook page for them. You could leave comments there. Last edited by Hoosier Rick; 02-19-2012 at 12:57 PM. Reason: added comment |

Re: what do i do now????
too bad ypu wern't in Ca, be a different story. The BAR and DCA take a pretty dim
view of shaky car dealers and repair shops. I'd look at your state atty general's website site for a dept of consumer affairs. |

Re: what do i do now????
i doubt they'll take you to court and pay court fees and attourney fees for a pos van. the rational man would just give in and give your cash back or something else to shut you up. just keep speaking your mind (not stupidly) and flaming them in every way possible without bringing harm to your case. maybe threaten em with some lawsuit even if you have no case; even if they won i doubt they want to go to court and do all that crap for a mini van. chances are (hopefully) they'll just write this off as part of the business. it shouldnt be the other way around.

Re: what do i do now????
Go to Mikz86TA's house, trap the cat and release it at the sales lot to get payback with paint damage to the rest of their inventory.
Unfortunatly for you the vehicle was sold as is and thats what you agreed too. If you can find anything to show they covered up a problem then you may have a case but those engines are known for internal problems so you probably need to write it off as a bad buy. |

I know it's shitty the thing is toast after just buying it but AS-IS is pretty cut and dry. It's a gamble.
