Went to the boneyard today, dam C4Cs!

There must have been 2 dozen Blazers, Bravadas, Envoys, S-10s, and S-15s all sprayed yellow with yellow wax pin markings on them. It pisses me off that so many good vehicles, that could have been donated to abused women, low income, disabled and other wise broke ass folks, there was even a cherry 90 GT Mustang (not that we care). There were a few dam near perfect Blazers with full leather, almost not a scratch on them. I could have had a complete black interior from a 93 except the front seats and door panels and I could have gotten that stuff from another one 2 rows over! I thinking about seeing what they want for the leather seats.
Anyway, I got a dash, a complete black seatbelt set, front and rear, 4 new door sills, front and rear, the gas door hardware and inside of the door stuff like the bumpers and various other nuts bolts and screws for $40. I shoved the sills and gas cap in the dash, jammed the seatbelts in the glovebox and my tool carrier, and nuts and bolts where ever I could

heres maybe 1/3 or a 1/4 of the Blazers there under Cash for Clunkers

this was the one I picked a lot out of!

I got a lot of stuff!

Black seatbelts!

how many perfect ones of these do you ever see!?

IDK about that place, but at our dealer we would put on the windshield the initials of the junkyard it's going to and "Killed" on there. Those to me just look like cars that have been there. But then again that's just one place. That's a good idea on the wheelbarrow I never even thought of that. Looks like you found yourself some goodies though. Shame most G-bodies didn't qualify for C4C

Re: Went to the boneyard today, dam C4Cs!

01cherry....I went to Circus Autoparts in Alsip next to ABC auto parts and found about 8-10 98+ Blazers and alot of other s-10's, jimmy's, bravada's and other great finds....alot of them were labled C4C so if you are looking for any parts and it is relatively close to you definetly go check it out. Walked out with alot of interior parts (dash, a-pillars, door cups and speaker grilles) all for around 35$ and that was on a full price day.

OP- I do agree with you about the ideas of giving these cars to people in need. I think the guidlines should have been a little stricter

I can't find no 2nd gens around here. And my truck wont make it to the ones that do have em. Tried talking my mom into letting me hook a trailer to her escort but she hung up on me.

Man those are some clean panels. Maybe have to call the local bone yard's in my area and see if they have any deals on them. Granted they wanted $300 for a used OEM radiator for my '83 with a 2.8.

So you're pissed off that so many immaculate pieces of machinery were put through the program, yet had these trucks not gone through the program you would not have gotten all the goodies you made off with.

believe me, they were all C4C. Painted, marked, and labeled as such
and I did see some caprices there with the yellow paint and C4C or clunker on them

This was my exact thought....I typed it out last night but decided against posting it.

also, giving C4C vehicles away would have been a worse idea than the bailouts.

Re: Went to the boneyard today, dam C4Cs!

It's a shame I don't still have an S10. My friends and I used to hit up junkyards all the time looking for cheap shit to upgrade with. Also got some cheap parts after two different wrecks I was in, in good shape, thanks to one particular red 94 S10 at one yard. Between my first gen and second gen I think I'd picked a good deal of the best stuff off the complete S10's in most of the local junkyards except the one real expensive place.

While I think it's a damn shame they're in a junkyard, that's a great source for some good parts right there! Maybe it was just my area, or my point of view, but it seamed like complete S10s or ones in good shape were starting to get few and far between.

Finally, to throw in my two cents, Cash for Clunkers was a stupid idea no matter how you slice it.

Re: Went to the boneyard today, dam C4Cs!

Only the engines internals have to be destroyed and they can't sell the block, heads, intake, cam, pistons, valves, etc. There's been several I've seen posted on CL for yards with C4C vehicles and some are REALLY nice. I went to one and they had 2 Blazers, one ZR2 Blazer that was nice looking except for a dented hood and broken passenger seat. The drivers 1/4 window trim was damaged on it as I need one for my Blazer. I did manage to get the rear defrost wires I needed. I had just bought a rear hatch from another yard about 2 weeks before I saw the C4C's going to yards, otherwise I would have waited.

Nice! Thanks for the heads up. I'd like to go get all the parts that I painted from C4C trucks and put all my jacked up paint work in the past.

Re: Went to the boneyard today, dam C4Cs!

I had the same experience this past weekend. I drove to Harrys U-Pull it in Hazleton PA and they must have had atleast 50 S-Series trucks with the engines spray painted orange. If a vehicle had a orange engine it was a C4C vehicle and they weren't allowed to sell the engine or cylinder heads from that vehicle.

Anyone need S-Series parts, Harrys has it. lol
I even saw a S10 Trailblazer that still had the front and rear leather seats in it, and reardoor panels. Front door panels were missing. Seats were a little dirty but in geat shape. Some woolite and leather conditioner and they would have been like new.

I hate Obama. The original language of the bill was that they had to be crushed or shredded, not just have the engine destroyed and part the rest out. The whole thing still pisses me off. Waste of tax money and poor people buying vehicles they can't really afford anyways, which are going to get repoed and they'll have bad credit ratings because of it. GREAT plan there.

Not ignorant, there's been news stories about it. And the "surprise, you get taxed on the $4500 we "gave" you" that people weren't expecting either. Not to mention higher insurance for full coverage, and higher license fees since they're based on value in most states now. Nice edit from your original post BTW.

what i am saying is ANYTHING the state/government gives you (i guarentee) has been filed somewhere so when the time comes to pay for it, they will have records of it somewhere. you can choose to not pay......... but later on you will pay reguardless.

Thank you.

Now should know that rebates are NEVER taxable income. Look it up. C4C is a rebate.

But here just look at this:

Is the credit subject to being taxed as income to the consumers that participate in the program?

NO. The CARS Act expressly provides that the credit is not income for the consumer.

http://www.cars.gov/faq#category-06

Now remember you asked me why I said your statements were ignorant?

You could have easily double-checked your facts before posting. It's not difficult. Don't resort to the sore loser trait now.

Good choice on switching to photobucket for the cookie image, since you can't hotlink the Yahoo one.

Chances are the cars traded in under C4C weren't gonna be having work done to them anytime soon, and they are all paid off already.. Look at the positive side of things. Stop blaming the president for fvck ups that you and everyone else could have prevented.

Resume with pics of S/T trucks being parted out and rotting away in junkyards
